It's currently backordered, but Frys.com is still taking orders on the set for $39.99 + free shipping. Lowest price I've seen so far.

Quick question, I got the UK version yesterday, because...well, it will be the same transfer and everything, but I saw that the 5th disc, with extras is different on both editions.

Does anyone know if new features where recorded or something for the US version? or is it just the same with different names?

Thank you!!!

Gus

Just checked my Amazon UK basket just now and saw price had reduced to just $28 and change after currency conversion so I pulled the trigger.

FYI, in case anyone's on the fence on this one and waiting for the price to come down. Seems good to me!

It defies logic that anyone would not buy it from Amazon UK right now.

Would it have been very expensive to include the extended cuts via seamless branching? I really wonder about the costs for that feature.

Very little cost for production but Richard Donner would not have approved the new extras if those extended cuts were included.

They were not included, from what I read somewhere, because director Richard Donner does not approve of them. They were created, without his consent, by the studio as a way to sell more DVDs. He apparently asked them to stop issuing them and release his original cuts.

You're welcome! I've been waiting for the U.S. price to drop. At $22.50 though I couldn't resist any longer and had to order it also. You must of been waiting too. At eighteen hundred sixty two blu-rays I would of thought you had this already!

Thanks. I just order it.

Just ordered this from Amazon UK. To heck with waiting on the US version to drop in price when the UK version is the same package.

Buffmovie 11-03-2012 05:14 PM

Are the discs identical? Both Amazon sites list different run times for each box set.

Lopan 11-19-2012 01:42 AM

Woohoo, just picked this up at Best Buy today for $34. Amazon still has it at $51.

Yes.

Amazon just dropped this to $34.99 about 20 minutes ago - ordered...

It wasn't in their ad, but I got this at Fry's last Friday for $29.99. Price should still be good until at least tomorrow. :)

P.S. It showed up in their newspaper ad today at that price. :itsnice:

Does anyone know if the UK version is affected by PAL speedup in the features or extras?

No. No. No.

For those who keep skipping over it...

UK and US are the same discs!!! The only differences are packaging, certificate logos on the UK, and disc art.

Good to know for those still waiting. I got that price at my local Fry's on Nov. 16, the same day they had Titanic for $9.99! :D

Doesn't say how long, but Amazon is still $44.

Beachguy 01-03-2013 09:42 PM

I bought this from Amazon a couple months ago and received the UK version. I ordered in the US as I live there.

Everything worked fine fortunately, so I never bothered returning it. I thought I was buying direct from Amazon but one of those sellers snuck into my order as I was in a hurry that day.

I know you have to be careful of features and stuff that might not work. For example, the Elm Steet set from overseas has a bonus disc that won't work in the US region A players.

mayday72 01-07-2013 01:31 AM

Got tired of waiting on my $24.99 price point & pulled the trigger on the UK set. $22.25 shipped to the U.S. is a steal for one of my all time favorite franchises.

 $29.99 at Fry's yet again  - in store only. Still $52 at Amazo, $60 at Best Buy! :yikes: Good through January 31st.
