Amadeus???

About a year ago, Warner said that AMADEUS was being prepared for HiDef release (back then they were promising it in both Blu and HD). I don't recall reading anything about it (besides posts saying others want it too) since the CES in January. I don't care is it is that "coffee book" packaging or just the usual blue plastic case. I just want to get this title in Blu. Anyone heard anything lately??

i was actually looking this up last night & all i found was it was supposed to be released in february of 08. i hope they release the directors cut & not the theatrical version. amadeus the directors cut & apocalypse now redux are my 2 all time favorite movies. i would say either september or october for amadeus to come out on blu-ray but knowing warner they only release the theatrical version.

It's coming...just waiting for a date. This movie will be great in 1080!

I buy a lot of concert BD's, as music is my primary passion! And although AMADEUS is a movie, it is still on my most wanted list! The music is outstanding and the performances are truly exemplary! I bought IMMORTAL BELOVED as well and just love that flick!

Does anyone know of any other period pieces about classical composers that were brought to film?

AMADEUS AMADEUS... AMADEUS, AMADEUS AMADEUS..ok sorry now I got that song stuck in my head

I hope Warner considers this an important movie to give this their best transfer. I also hope they give us the director's cut.

davcole 07-05-2008 05:21 PM

Yes i'd love for Warner to release this one in TrueHD!

I don't know anybody who wants to buy this.

Says the person who likely hasn't even seen the movie. This movie has a cult like following and while it's not going to put up Transformer like numbers, it's safe to say there's room for one of cinema's greatest films of all time.

ToonyLoons 07-05-2008 11:32 PM

I would love to have this movie on Blu. I became really interested in owning this in HD a few months ago, but have liked the movie for a long time.

sfmarine 07-10-2008 04:38 PM

It only won 8 Oscars....

BluCrew 07-10-2008 04:45 PM

Seriously, I'm so glad that Alex guy is suspended. What a  Good riddance...

Unfortunately, I don't know of any others, aside from Immortal Beloved (Beethoven) and Amadeus (Mozart).

There are a few composers who really lived spectacular lives while composing some really moving pieces: Wagner, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich come to mind for me...

...and we all know plenty.

I started a thread about it a few months ago, couldn't find it to reference, but there was a very good response by people.

ROFLMAO!!!

There was a really good movie about Chopin that I saw a while back, I think it had Hugh Grant but it was pretty good.
Amadeus is honestly just another level of film making, it really is a rare and great film.
I am a big fan of Immortal Beloved also, which had great perfomances as well.

tiger roach 07-10-2008 05:10 PM

Will get this one when it comes out.

Hopefully the sound (and picture) on the BD will do it justice.

There was the movie Copying Beehtoven that was pretty good. No where near Immortal Beloved, but it was entertaining.
