I never seen the movie, but the packaging looks cool :D

P@t_Mtl 01-11-2009 02:48 PM

Does it come with the extra, you know the special herbe that is needed to go on a flying trip? :D

sonnyworld85 01-11-2009 03:18 PM

That is some awesome packaging!

GGX 01-11-2009 03:29 PM

lol that looks so weird. But understandable due to the content of the movie.

Galley 01-11-2009 03:38 PM

Does it come with a standard BD case inside?

I have never seen this movie all the way through...I have just seen bits and pieces of it. Is it really that good? I know the music is great...but as a movie..is it really that good?

Slec 01-11-2009 05:51 PM

I've seen it on PBS. This is supposed to have a lot more footage than the original version. It's pretty cool seeing a bunch of the acts up on stage. I have the Jimi Hendrix @ Woodstock performance and if that is an indication of the audio, I'll be one happy camper.

One of the best concert films ever made...

(I hate that box, though. Wish Warner would cool it with that crap, just want the f***ing movie. Can only imagine how much that sucker's gonna cost. Probably make Casablanca seem like a bargain.)

cannot cannot cannot wait for this. we'll have our surround sound by then, it'll be summer... perfect disc for a little green party.

easyrider 01-11-2009 07:52 PM

I thought that it had been announced with the coffee table/digipack type packaging ?

It's been on Amazon for months.

Yes, it's an awesome movie, yes it's a bit dated, yes it has amazing footage of lots of people who are dead or long retired and for those not into the music (which just boggles my mind, but whatever...) there is plenty of full nudity in it too. The Who footage is spectacular, as is the Santana, it has a lot of bands at their peak, in their primes or when they were first starting out. Everyone from Arlo to Joan Baez to Sha Na Na to Joe Cocker.

The original film was 3 hours long, this version will be 4 and, for the first time, will have an extra hour of footage added in. In the collectors circles the additional footage has been around for years, and more than an hour of it is circulating including most of the Dead set (not in the movie), most of the Airplane, most of the Creedence, etc., but to the masses it will be new footage.

Worth any price, frankly, especially if you have ever been experienced in the Hendrix sense of the word. :)

Amazon.com lists this release as containing an exclusive third disc? I thought it was supposed to be three discs... do they mean a fourth disc? or is the 3rd discs excl to amazon.com?

Anyone know about that?

also someone noted some Santana being re-recorded for the film and there will be some controversy over that possibly.

Two of my buddies were at Woodstock. I was asked to go along, but I got this really cool summer job working at A&A Records in downtown Montreal and I wasn't about to pass that up. In retrospect, I guess I should have! But, oh well!

I've seen this about 20-30 times, if not more, and will buy the BD when it gets released for the additional footage. The packaging is kinda weird and I would have preferred to see this come out as a DigiBook. Better yet, a separate DigiBook for each BD on only the acts included on said disc.

Interesting, I,ve seen the original, but the price would be my deciding factor.

Galley 03-31-2009 11:22 PM

It's $49 on Amazon, so it's still pricey.

Johnny Vinyl 05-27-2009 10:48 AM

Was going to get this anyway, but after reading the review it's become a definate MUST HAVE title for me.

John

PS- Bought a new Levi's jean jacket last year and must affix the Woodstock patch to it......(wish I still had my old one) :(
