Well maybe you aren't bad luck after all yet. I got a guy possibly wanting my speakers willing to drive here to get them (from Kansas City only 3 hours away). That would save me the hassle of shipping 200 pds of speakers and get me those damn Sapphires.

There is only 2 teams I really like in the NFL. Steelers and Packers. I've been a fan of both since I was a child. I somewhat like the Bears also. So this is my Super Bowl (I'm leaving at 4am Sunday morning if I'm driving to get the speakers so I have time to get back..set them up...then watch Super Bowl). I'm going for the Packers. The Steelers have 2 Super Bowl wins recently so I'm playing favorite towards the Packers since it has been awhile. I really wish I had bet on the playoffs. Every single playoff game I picked the correct winner. I had a bunch of cash I would have had a huge payday betting this in Vegas.

Yes the avatar is the imperial logo, I have all ways been "on the dark side". My son LOVES legos. We have so many we have trouble storing them. I found out that actually he just likes the figures, I wish I could just buy those.

Thanks on the PJ, I am pretty excited. I need some glasses and an emitter, then a little content and I will be 3D ready!

My kids have been trying to get me to buy them this t-shirt, but I just keep forgetting about it. You just reminded me of it. Maybe I'll order it today for them. ;)

We don't have a lot of room in our house, so right now our "Lego Town" is in the front room of our house. That room doesn't get much use and is probably the best place. I need to take pictures for the grandparents so I'll post pictures this weekend maybe.

BTW, they do just sell figures. http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Leaf.aspx?cn=634&d=70 They also sell individual pieces. http://shop.lego.com/pab/

Thanks for the good luck wishes and I'll let it slide this time since you have a friend who actually plays on the Packers. ;)

Well, here is where I am at with the install on the new RS40.

It appears that I have a slight "Moire" problem with the new projector and my SeymourAV AT woven screen. I can dial it out with the focus, but I am not sure if I am getting the picture as sharp as I prefer. On bright white images, it looks almost like a faint zebra pattern across the screen.....

I am also having HDMI issues, the EDID signal on the HDMI cable is not going through the new Atlona high speed cable correctly and the Oppo 93 doesn't think that a 3D capable device is connected.

So now I troubleshoot.

On the bright side, the black level of this projector is just incredible. So I really would like to get everything fixed and keep it, but it has been a frustrating couple of days.

how are the colors coming from the sony? i have a rs1x and dont really mind them at all, but im debating on waiting until jvc at least puts cms into the rs40 level projector.

i want to go 3d, but im debating on maybe snagging a used rs25 for cheap and waiting out till next year or the year after

The Sony was fine, it just didn't have enough lumen output for the size screen that I have. It would wash out on occasion.

The 3D is kind of a bonus, but I DO want to use it at times. The CMS is a little more than I probably need. So I will be happy with the 40 if I can just work out the issues with 3D and the moire.

i was just more curious if you had your sony professionally calibrated and now moving to a non CMS jvc if anything about the colors is bothering you.

It had been calibrated when I originally purchased it and I never had it re-calibrated myself. I really enjoyed the VPL VW60 until I started using the ISCO II and 2.37 screen. I then started having issues with contrast and "washing out".

I'm sorry to hear this.:( Trouble shooting is such a PITA. I know it's not the way you wanted to start your 3D experience. Is it a simple miscommunication between the RS40 and 93?

Good luck on a quick and easy fix.

On a side note, will the Superbowl be broadcast in 3D this year? How cool will that be! Roethlisberger will be running around your living room.;)

Hey Wabo,

I actually fixed the "handshake" issue by changing the power on sequence.

Projector, processor and then Blu Ray player, 3D passes fine. I did order another HDMI cable today like yours, so if it comes in I may test it out a little.

The bigger problem is the slight "banding" I am getting from my AT screen. It is a woven material and seems to be causing some kind of "interference"with the projected image. I can't really afford to upgrade the screen at the moment, so I might have to live with it for a while.

I don't want Big Ben running around my living room, he might try to stoop my wife!

Go Packers!

I don't know, my glasses and emitter haven't shown up yet. I have just played "despicable me" in 3D to make sure that everything was being passed correctly. It does work though.

I am still looking for some 3D material. Have you picked anything else up yet?

If you pick up Imax Space Station 3D, please tell me what you think. That and the Grand Canyon 3D Blu Ray both look interesting to me.

I check the reviews out pretty carefully:ohnoes:(for 3-D transfer)
You'll see a very blurred (w/o glasses on) screen when there's a lot of 3-D content and very little blurring when the 3-D content isn't there on a 3-D disk(at least on the Pany that's the way it comes out)

Bill, do you get the choice with a 3D blu-ray disc to watch the movie in either 2D or 3D, or is 3D the only option?

Some have a choice some don't, It comes up just like "play theatrical vs. extended" on a reg BR:)

Hi phansson.

Glad to hear the handshake issue has been fixed. Those little things can really drive you batty.

So you decided to join the Better Cable HDMI club? Welcome aboard.:D I'm curious to hear your thoughts between the two.

Besides replacing your screen, I don't know what else you can do to stop the minor banding. Fortunately, you mention it's slight. I wonder if you'll even notice it when watching a 3D showing? Or simply drink more beer and it will all look good.;)

Lol. Yeah, big Ben goes full retard way too often. Hide your wife if he's in town.:ohnoes: Although, I do like Rodgers, I just can't cheer for the Packers. Are you gonna dress up again?

Good Morning everyone!

How is everything? I see that Sean got some new speakers, what else has happened?

I got to put my projector through some paces last night, so far I have worked out most of the problems that I had listed earlier in the thread. So things are going quite nicely. Now I need an emitter and some glasses so I can watch a 3D movie!

phansson 02-09-2011 04:34 AM

Ok, so I finally got around to taking some pictures. Have things pretty ironed out and this thing throws an INCREDIBLE picture.

Hey Wabo, How are you doing? Is the Harmony 1100 working out ok?

I have no clue when the emitter and glasses will be in, I have them ordered, just waiting for JVC to catch up. I can't wait to break this thing in with a good 3D movie. I am trying to find a copy of How to train your dragon and Avatar, both in 3D of course. The problem is the only way to get one is on eBay and they are both selling for about $75 and $100 respectively. So I might have to wait a little while.

Hey Bill, how are you today?

I am just at work watching it snow. We have about 4" on the ground with another 2" - 6" expected.

I still haven't received any glasses yet. So I haven't been able to watch a 3D blu ray yet (in 3D anyway). Still looking for a copy of Avatar and How to Train your Dragon. I wish I could pick those two movies up before the glasses come in. I don't really want to pay $200 for them though.

The snow storm is supposed to just miss us to the south:ohnoes: be careful out there!
Avatar and HTTYD are the hot tickets and hard to get at a decent price:(
I look over the reviews here on the 3-D quality, I have seen quite a variation from one 3-D to another as far as the 3-D effect and amount.
I just ordered Open Season and I might get Alice in Wonderland and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs:D. 3-D can make an OK movie an experience if it's done right.

phansson 02-10-2011 03:48 PM

Well, we ended up getting about 6" of snow and the kids were out yesterday and today. So they are pretty much driving us crazy!

So what is up today? I am in need of watching a good "new" movie at home. Any suggestions?

The 1100 is humming along.

So you're waiting on JVC to get the glasses and emitters out to you? Man, that's gotta suck. To be so close, yet so far away.:ohnoes:

The 3D versions of HTTYD and Avatar are going for $100!? Why are they so hard to get?

Glad to hear you are enjoying the 1100. I am having trouble getting my 1000 to power off the JVC properly. I just can't get it to work right. You have to push the "standby" button twice and the Harmony is programmed to just do it once..... Oh the pain of upgrades.

I think JVC didn't expect to sell as much of the new 3D product as it did. So back orders on the emitters, glasses and projectors for that matter have been a big issue. Some of the members of AVS still haven't even received their RS40 orders from October!

The Avatar (panasonic) and How To Train Your Dragon (samsung) are exclusives and not available at retail at the moment. They are "throw ins" if you buy a 3D player or tv, so of course the prices are high!.

Flatnate 02-10-2011 09:38 PM

Hey Phansson,

So word on the street is the JVC won't do vertical stretch to go scope with the lens in place if its receiving a 3D signal, but the Oppo will do the stretch as long as its not a Java disc? Any news on a firmware update for either? Maybe I should be asking this over in the 3d area? :o

Looks good man!

You are correct. The JVC will not do vertical stretch for 2.35 3d material. For some reason, it supposedly doesn't have enough computing power.

The Oppo is supposed to do the stretch, but I don't have any discs to check it out with yet. I tried the Avatar 3D trailer that is on the special edition and I couldn't get it to work.

Flatnate 02-10-2011 11:23 PM

Hmm, I'm thinking a thread somewhere that lists which 3D blu-rays will or will not Vertical stretch on the Oppo might be due somewhere if it hasn't already been done.
