I think JVC didn't expect to sell as much of the new 3D product as it did. So back orders on the emitters, glasses and projectors for that matter have been a big issue. Some of the members of AVS still haven't even received their RS40 orders from October!

The Avatar (panasonic) and How To Train Your Dragon (samsung) are exclusives and not available at retail at the moment. They are "throw ins" if you buy a 3D player or tv, so of course the prices are high!.

Whassup, phansson?

My JVC pj is the same. Whereas, you need to hit the 'standby' button twice to turn it off. But when setting up my 1100, I simply entered the model number of my pj and the remote did the rest. It turns everything off, including the projector with one button. Long story short:o, I didn't have to do anything special to the Harmony.

I didn't realize HTTYD and Avatar were exclusives. I can't keep up with you 3D big shooters.

Good morning everyone! I hope that you have all taken care of your "valentines" today so you have some points saved up for HT gear.

Don't forget.

Good morning Patrick. Valentine's is pretty low key in my house. My wife doesn't like flowers (they die to quickly) nor candy (calories.) Sure I could get her jewelry, but then that would set the bar too high for the next years Valentine's. ;) So, instead dinner and some time alone is what we usually do each year. We both enjoy getting and giving Valentine's to the kids more than anything else. How about you?

phansson 02-14-2011 06:32 PM

Wabo, just found an emitter and some glasses (2 pair) so I will be complete by the end of this week or early next week!

Now I need to find some 3D movies!

You should all ways think of ways to keep your "other half" out of your HT. If she is happy, she doesn't notice things......:D

BTW, I like your new avatar.

I don't celebrate Valentine's Day. I hate that if you go out to a restaurant the menus are set and more expensive. And roses go up by 400%. I think I have convinced my wife that I love her. I buy her flowers a few times a year, and we go out to eat all the time. Had McDonald's last night, not joking. Finished work late and was too tired too cook.

In Taiwan, they also celebrate Chinese Lover's Day, and some chick's even try Japanese Valentine's Day, best just to boycott the whole idea.

As far as WAF goes, if I spend $X on gear she gets to spend $X on purses and wallets. Honestly, if I told her I was buying a PJ for $3,000, she'd be happier than a pig wallowing in its own filth.

I agree that flowers are usually a waste of money. They don't last very long and are WAY to expensive this time of year. Chinese Lovers Day sounds better than Valentines day, at least a little more "exciting".

My wife started a new business, so I bought her a LaserJet printer to print out flyers and signs. She was pretty happy with that. Plus it is something that is a little more usable.

Our big joke around the HT is that everything in there cost $500 max. If she really knew how much everything was, she would fall over dead.

Our big joke is

My wife is the same way, but more times than not it seems that her $X item results in me getting a $X/2 or $X/3 item... :(

That's great! $500

I need my wife to go shopping with me, so she knows exactly how much and usually transfers the money or swipes the credit card. My Chinese isn't great and I cannot bargain, which is necessary and expected here. But with me, I think they see an easy mark, crazy foreigner, when I walk through the door. Really, just no skills for beating down the sales reps until they give in, wife can though. It makes buying those bags easier, she earns some of it.

Hey, wait! Change that :(, don't you have B&W 804s! Can imagine what kinda purse she got after you bought them. :faint:

At least your getting something out of it! Wow, looking at your equipment list, your wife must have a lot of really expensive stuff.

Well, really my wife and I have seperate bank accounts and one joint account. It has made things a little easier as far as personal purchases. No need to argue....

Glad your wife likes to haggle, mine just pays sticker all the time! Consider yourself lucky.

Good morning all, I hope you are having a great week so far. I ordered a couple of 3D movies yesterday and the glasses should be in by Friday. So maybe this weekend I can officially be "full 3D".

What is going on this week? Any "upgrades" that I should know about?

truffleshuffle83 02-16-2011 01:40 PM

Thanks truffleshuffle,

I haven't gotten around to using the projector over the past couple of days so I will try that when I have some spare time. I have been working a lot and my wife has a new small business she is starting up. So that has been taking a lot of our time.

We did watch "Let me in" the other night. I think I still like the Swedish version better.

What is going on with you?

phansson 02-17-2011 03:24 PM

Well, I just sold my projector! I had to take a little less than I was wanting, but it is a pretty soft market at the moment.

Hey Landry, just working and living the dream.....

I have been waiting on my 3D glasses to come in so I can really enjoy the new projector. I have been enjoying it, but I would like to really put it through its paces. I did sell the old projector today, so that helped in the financial department.

What have you been up to?

That is too funny my kids would appreciate it so I am not even going to bother showing it to them. I don't ned to get into the Vietnam War with them at 9 and 7.

Not much going on right now. I'm at my kids piano classes. Another busy couple of weeks coming up here at work.

phansson 02-18-2011 04:58 AM

Well, I just finished watching "layer cake" again, what does everyone think about this movie? It is one of my favorites over the past 10 years. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you pick it up. It is a cheap disc now, usually under $10 bucks.

phansson 02-18-2011 03:24 PM

Good morning all. I am hoping that my glasses and emitter will be in today. Fingers Crossed.

For any of you "apple" fans out there, I picked up a "Magic Pad" yesterday to replace my "mighty mouse" on my iMac. So far it has been very easy to use and has some really nice features. It will take some getting used to, but overall it is a very easy device to use.

The one with Daniel Craig?
Yea I liked that one:rock::D

Yes, Daniel Craig is the main actor. It is one of my favorite movies....

I am in need of a program for my mac that will let me do editing of images.

Example:take my wifes new business logo, and be able to cut and paste, resize etc. Not something that is online.

Any suggestions?

GIMP is a free equivalent of Photoshop.

I'm not sure if Aperture or Lightroom can put an actual logo, but they both support watermarks. Maybe the watermark can be a file. I never needed to try.

phansson 02-19-2011 03:57 AM

Thanks for the help Hammie, what I need to do is have a program that I can take an existing logo, copy and paste (to make a picture with two side by side logos) and then resize it to 1140 x 800 or something like that.

GIMP is probably your program on the cheap, then.

Other pay programs would be Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop.

Hey Hammie, thanks for the help, I guess I can't describe what I need. Maybe something like Microsoft Publisher would be what I need. Not necessarily a photo editing software.

My wife just purchased a photobooth to rent out for special occasions. So we need something that can make little snippets like "Pat and Kelly's wedding" in some kind of heart pattern.

Everything I look at is more photo editing software.....

phansson 02-21-2011 02:51 PM

Good morning everyone. How is everything today?

Any exciting news?

phansson 02-21-2011 06:57 PM

Just thought everyone would like to know, I tried to watch my copy of "sunshine" last night. Unfortuately, the PIP problem popped up on my Oppo 93. I don't remember the 83 having the issue. Anyway, I called Fox today and they are sending me out a new copy. So if you have the issue, it is the easiest exchange program ever.....

Kudos for Fox for fixing the issue (after 2 years) and making the program so easy.

Well, finally received my emitter and 3D glasses in today! So my goal to go 3D is officially finished.

The JVC glasses are the UGLIEST things I have ever seen. They look like a box with two rulers glued on the side!

So tonight, I will watch IMAX Space Station!

I'm curious to see what the glasses look like. Can you post a pic or two.:)
