#1 ~ Go about half way down the first post & it will explain the difference ~ http://forum.blu-ray.com/speakers/66...-speakers.html

#2 ~ You know that the extension cord is a no no , This seems to be the solution !

#3 ~ One of these will split the signal once . I have 2 of them off the one sub out on the receiver (one hooked to the other) , sending the 3 signals to the amps & then to the 3 subs I have .

#4 ~ :D

#5 ~ A few inches away is fine Benny .

u're the man crazy.....looks like i'll have to do some reading this week and may not be able to order everything for a bit.

Sound Proofing

i'm back guys.....soundproofing.

forgive my ignorance....i'm relying on any experts in this area.

by putting insulation in the rafters of the ceiling and then putting some of those 4x8' sheets of pink styrofoam insulation to hold it in, will that do anything/be beneficial for soundproofing??

Check this out Benny :D

I have also heard that 2 layers of Sheetrock is effective as well .

I'm thinking about going with something like this:

http://www.soundprooffoam.com/quiet-...nsulation.html

It has an NRC rating of 1 slips right in the studs.

Blu-Benny 09-16-2010 03:41 PM

thanks for the input guys....i really appreciate it.

so i did some measuring last night, i s/b able to get all of the drywall i'll need w/the 10 hours of OT i'll have put in my 2morrow!!!

gonna stop 2nite and get the 2nd door i need along w/a few outlets, a light switch, some elec. wire, and a light.

then i can finish off the electical work i need to do and hopefully get both doors put in 2nite right away.

this weekend i'll read up on the different wiring options for the HT and order the cables next week sometime and start all of the wiring for the HT then!!!

Blu-Benny 09-17-2010 11:29 AM

Blu-Benny 09-18-2010 12:16 PM

well i got my outlets put into the pillar i framed aroudn the support pole last night. also got the line run for an outlet that was originall anchored to the foundation wall.

only electrical wiring i have left is moving 1 more outlet from the foundation to the new frame work and then wiring a light and light switch inside the closet by the crapper pipe.

didn't get my door put on the closet....menards had a returned door and i thought it was an 18" door.....turns out they had it marked wrong!!!

it's only 16 1/4" so it's to small for my opening. now i have to go exchange it on monday!!!

but @ least i got my pillar wired....and they work!!!

Well I’m actually sitting @ my desk here @ work as I’m typing this!!! :bitenails: putting in that OT to keep funding the project.

We have a wedding on my wife’s side in Eau Claire, WI today which is about 2 hours west of where I live so no go on anything today.

2morrow is football and after the Packer game I’m heading out to the woods to hang my tree stand. Bow hunting season opened today and I’m not gonna be able to go for a couple weeks so I figured I’d @ least get my stand out there. So nothing 2morrow either.

I’ll swap out the door on Monday and possibly get it put in Monday or Tuesday night.

Hopefully on the ride to the wedding I can read up on the di-bi pole speaker link you gave me the other day and then I can order my cables next week and get started on that. I’ll get the rest of the wiring done this next week though for sure.

Then I get paid again on 9/29….i’ll be able to get all of my drywall w/the OT on that check and have a bunch left over. I figure I’ll need about 22 sheets of 8’ drywall so I’ll be looking @ $80. my OT is gonna come to @ least $250 so I’ll quite a bit left over for mud and lights!!!

Once I get the drywall @ the house, then I’ll be banging that all out right away too. Then once I get the drywall in, I’ll be getting the wood for the movie cabinet and start on that.

You are just cruising along aren't you ~ Man on a mission Here
That all sounds good Benny & Good luck hunting this year ~ Hope you get a big buck .

Blu-Benny 09-18-2010 01:29 PM

heck yes i am!!! u have no idea how much i've been wanting this for the last 4-5 years!!! esp. since i became a member on here and seeing what everyone else has. :o

i figure if i can get 10 hours of OT each week between now and Thanksgiving....i'll come close to finishing everything off.....including the ceiling and floor.

i'm still torn on the floor though.

part of me wants to avoid ALL chances of any problems with moisture......no insulation in between the studs, tile floor so if i do get a small leak, it's not ruining carpet or wood and no water pipes run to my bar.

i've insulated the foundation of the house so that shouldn't be too big of a deal as far as the no insulation....we plan on putting a small natural gas stove down there for heat.....and it's not gonna be a main living area so it doesn't have to stay warm @ all times anyway.

but i've been considering putting carpet over where the HT and couch will go. just to give it that "homey" feel and then tile the rest of the floor where the bar and poker table will go. :shrug2:

i've got to talk to a guy i know and have him come take a look....he does a lot of flooring so he'll be able to tell me the pro's & con's either way.

and thanks....this will only be the 2nd time i'm hunting on the land i'll be on....so we'll see how my hunting skills are.....i haven't been bow hunting in 2-3 years!!! :panic:

Blu-Benny 09-20-2010 02:14 PM

posting this question again.....so i've got it in new threads now.....hoping someone can come to my aid!!

hoping someone can dumb down the bi-polar & di-polar info for me.

please forgive my ignorance....last time i was up to speed on HT was when optical & digital coax were the new big thing and 6.1 DTS was the shizz!!!

so is the bi/di-polar just the way the speakers are wired to the recv'r or amp??

it's not the actual speaker itself is it??

what i'm concerned about @ this point is i'm looking to order speaker wire this week so i can wire my HT.

i need to know of anything important when doing the wiring b/c it's gonna be in wall and i really don't want to have to rip it out and start over once the drywall is up.

Blu-Benny 09-21-2010 02:51 AM

well i stopped @ menards 2nite to exchange the door i bought on friday night.

they said b/c it didn't have a box, it was considered a "bargain door" even though it was with the other doors and the same exact price as all of the other doors!!

AND it wasn't marked as one and there was no sign saying "NO REFUNDS/NO RETURNS/NO EXCHANGES"

well, all it took was "i want a manager" and they let me exchange the door. :D

here is what it looks like after i got it in....all by myself mind you.....my dad is in Mexico as i type this!!!

i took a picture of when the door is open.....it misses the foundation wall and it opens to 90 degrees before it his the crapper pipe!!

No more appropriate place for this........ thought you could use a new Avatar....

I'm not sure if you mentioned whether you're doing green-glue and 2 sheets of drywall...... but I'd recommend it for the walls that will surround the furnace at the very least.... if you're not planning on doing the whole thing...... which I'd also recommend highly.

i should make that my av for a while!! :D

was planning on putting up 1/2" drywall on all of the walls but only a single layer.

i'll be putting something in the rafters for soundproofing but don't know what yet.
