Blu-Benny's Basement/HT!

Where the HT will go.

i plan on framing a wall about 2 feet from the foundation and have an access panel to the crapper pipe that i can cover up w/a poster frame.

i also want to build in an audio rack that will be shelves set into the wall off to the left side.

Blu-Benny 01-29-2009 12:56 AM

Where the bar will go.

the couches, tv, and gun rack will be removed and not be in the finished basement. i've got plans to build a bar and put on the right hand side here.

i also plan on building a liquor cabinet for behind the bar.

A wall will be put up here.

my 1st project, a wall will be put up to separate my business from my finished basement.

still in the planning stages of my HT revamp, plan on building my bar this coming fall/winter i think but here's the poker table my father in law built for himself however many years ago.....he has passed it onto me b/c they don't play cards anymore.

i can already count the money i'll be winning on this thing.

Tv should definitely go on the north wall like you suggested and furniture towards the south wall. Your side surrounds (well the left surround I think it would be I think I'd have like a arm bracket angled downward toward seating area unless you want to put stands/floorstanding speakers for your surrounds. The bar you could have farther outward due to the pipe in the way. I'd make like a wooden panels covering the pipe or incorporate it into a shelfing type thing. My dad had similar problem with pipes in way of his basement...he made a wooden shelf back wall of the bar that covered everything up.

SeanMF 06-07-2009 10:07 PM

Looks like a drop ceiling is needed to cover up the vents and such...I'd get all your wiring figured out and finished before you get the ceiling...building of other stuff done.

BLURAYSONYES 06-07-2009 10:21 PM

Does Jay and Silent bob lived here? :D

Blu-Benny 06-08-2009 01:29 AM

my 1st projects will be the wall by the furnace and i'll be building a platform @ the bottom of the stairs and wall off the opening that is there now so i can fully separate my business side and my ht side.

i'll probably frame everything out 1st then do all of the wiring as far as any electrical outlet additions and then do all of the speaker wire and audio/video cables.

i'm hoping to be laying brick by friday night. :fingers crossed:

Blu-Benny 07-15-2009 02:43 AM

here it is, i'm hoping to get a little more rock in 2morrow night and then the sand and then i s/b able to start laying block!!!

Watch out with the tamper, it can bust your pavers if you're not careful.

Looks like it's gonna be a winner when you're done.

i was contemplating using it but think i'm gonna decide against it. will just make sure none move too much and will use that compound/joining sand for the cracks when it's done.

can't wait, hopefully i can get done 2morrow and break it in w/a good getting drunk party!!! :D

Blu-Benny 07-19-2009 03:48 AM

here's my progress after today:

http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/8814/img9589.jpg

we s/b able to get the last few blocks laid and while my wife is putting those in i'll be able to get the edges cut.

i might start on the pillars 2morrow too, we'll see how i feel about it though.

and here's a close up of the pattern:

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3041/img9594e.jpg

5 colors and 3 sizes in each color. in the whole thing no 2 colors are touching!!! my wife went and ordered the block from the place which is right across the road from us, showed them the picture and pattern we wanted and told them we wanted all 5 colors and all 3 sizes. the guy looked @ her and said only professionals do that pattern w/that many colors and sizes!!! :D

NOT ANYMORE NOW THAT BENNY IS A SEASONED PATIO LAYER!!!

kinda thinking about going into the masonry business!!!

Blu-Benny 07-27-2009 12:54 AM

Beta Man 07-27-2009 12:57 AM

Don't you love working on the house ;)

edit:

Is that some sort of warehouse across the street from you?

Blu-Benny 07-27-2009 01:01 AM

it's a lumber factory. then right next to it is a concrete plant, that's where all of the block and rock is from.

Deadset 07-27-2009 04:22 PM

Arg!

I'll have to check them at home, can't see the pics at work :(

Blu-Benny 08-07-2009 01:55 AM

so here's the 1st patio done w/the pillars up and the lights in:

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/24/img9651j.jpg

and here's a close up of one of the pillars:

http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/4098/img9652.jpg

i still have to actually wire the lights and outlet and then mount the lights. but it looks nice all the same!! :D

Blu-Benny 08-07-2009 01:57 AM

here's the 2nd patio done before the siding gets done:

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/968/img9654.jpg

now all we have left is the house to get done. i'll be posting some before pix here in a couple weeks.

Vary Nice Job on the Patio Benny , Looks great ! i like the different colors on the patio & the Pillers look good too . Job well done !!!

Blu-Benny 08-22-2009 01:19 AM

so our house project kicked off last weekend officially and we are in the middle of a huge f'ing mess!!! me & my wife stayed home on monday and ripped all of the siding and 1/4" insulation off, took all of the tin siding and aluminum trim work to a steel plant in town and made $150!!! our building permit costed $100. if we got a dumpster and put all of the siding into it, the dumpster rental would've costed $250. so not a bad deal.

now for the pix.

here are some before and after shots of our breezeway on the west side of the house. before we ripped the walls out, there was 1 anchor holding the wall to the foundation and about a 1 1/2" gap between the foundation and wall bottom on the side closest to the house!!! :jawdrop:
