Wow wow, hold on there for a second man.
I might just be starting to build my Criterion collection, but trust me, I have seen so many old and "classic" movies that its harrd to imagine (of course mostly the good ones, most of which will never make it to Criterion).

Majority is the way you described, but not everyone. I am sure there are still some people of even my age (around 21) that still appreciate older movies. I am sure there will always be this community who will always apprecaite great "classics".

What do you mean by "mostly the good ones, which will never make it to Criterion"? Are you talking about mainstream classics like Casablanca, Wizard of Oz? I think these types of classics are easy enough to watch that a person of any age can get into it even if they don't necessarily prefer old movies.

So, 4 days later I'll be driving to the post office, standing in line for a while and getting my package that should have been delivered to my house. An hour out of my life I'll never get back, and a gallon of gas to boot.

Prime is becoming less and less Prime to me.

You'd be more successful calling and talking to a real person. FYI.

Age may not be a factor in it. My budyd is 50 and the only way I couls ever make him watch a Criterion Collection movie would be if I tied him up and use toothpick to keep his eyes open. :) He can't watch anything that as subtitles, if it's not dub he won't watch it.

I hear you, I have a friend that refuses to watch anything with subs.

I dont think that teenagers/young people watch even mainstream classics like the Wizard Of Oz anymore, although I didnt mean them only.

I'm 18. I visit here, but don't post as often as many of the regulars here. Are you in school/Where are you going to school? I go to a place with a large film program, so meeting people that are into stuff out of the mainstream is easy here.

I was wondering if anyone had problems playing any part of their Criterion blu's? I'm at my parents house for the holiday weekend, and my fathers bluray player stopped playing my copy of Yojimbo at chapter 17. I tried to fast forward chapters, bu it won't play past this chapter. Has anyone ever had these problems, or am I a rare case? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Just saw a scene from The Thin Red Line.

Without overestimation one of my top 3 demo material (#1 for live action, non-CGI) from now on along Avatar and Pixar.
Movie looked promising too, excellent scenery.
Cant wait till I see it from begining to end tomorow. I am already sure that this will be one of my best blind buys ever.

P.S. Never experienced playback issues.

I had a problem with Seventh Seal late in the movie. I might watch Yojimbo tonight, and if I do I will let you know. I have a feeling it is my player though. I might be jumping on this Disney combo pack deal to have a 2nd player to test with.

Good to know about Seventh Seal. I think it migh be his player too. I tried listening to the player and it was making strange noises; as if it was trying to play, but it wasn't tracking properly.

Bummer. I'll continue Yojimbo at home on Sunday.

Hey guys, Just got a quick question about this double pack regarding the audio.

Blu-ray.com says it's dolby digital 3.0 while amazon says DTS HD MA 3.0 but nothing about the PCM mono track? I'm pretty sure this set has both DTS HD MA 3.0 and PCM Mono but just wanted to confirm!

Thanks.

Yeah, thinking about having them reimburse me for my gas. :)

Is 25 young or am I now an old man? :( Even when I was a lot younger I always liked old TV shows and movies though. Hell when I was in grade six I used to rush home after school to watch Three's Company and I Love Lucy re-runs since they would air back to back and TC would start 30 minutes after we got out.

The Secret of The Grain arrived in the mail today so finally caught back up on the Criterion releases and have all the Blu-Rays again :D Rest of the year should be easy sailing with only two in December and will probably end up getting those for Christmas so won't have to buy them myself :p

I think 25 is still young. Oh, and you need Yojimbo and Sanjuro separately if you truly wanna have a complete Criterion collection on Blu, technically.

tcoz18 11-26-2010 05:49 AM

just turned 22 and just started my criterion collection during the 50% BN sale.

Well you could say that about Montery Pop too but to me that would just mean pointless duplicates and there is nothing more complete about that IMO. Anybody that would buy the exact same thing twice is just an obsessive crazy person :p Plus anybody could fake that claim anyway since you get the same cases in the box and could just put them besdie the box without anybody being able to see they are not in it :p

tcoz18 11-26-2010 06:14 AM

Yeah I wish I could get more but being a college student can only afford the lower priced blu-rays most of the time
