I'm trying to decide which Warner Bros. title I should buy. Can someone help me or wrong thread?

It's most troubling because Criterion no longer answers direct emails but they will answer Facebooks questions. Twitter is actually useful for media and some substantial celebrities (although for the common man it really has no use--- no one cares what Joe College had for breakfast). |

I just blind bought Broadcast News.
I have never been disappointed with any Criterion I've blind bought, :o |
I know this isn't a Criterion question per se, but has anyone ever seen Zabriskie Point by Antonioni?
I watched it the other night after years of searching for it (had to re-start my Netflix account as a free trial), finally got it in the mail on Friday. I did like it a lot, although I had heard some negative things about it. Another short (58 min.) film I was able to find on Netflix, The Committee, is also something I have been searching for. I hear this is a "head trip" film, a la Head, but more psychological, in a way. I heard snippets of dialogue on some Pink Floyd bootleg with their original background music, and what I heard was intriguing. I know nothing else of the film, really. Has anyone seen either of these? |

Twitter isn't a replacement for Facebook and I certainly don't think everyone needs it. Most people probably would use it just to talk about breakfast. But it is a valid tool in the right places. |

I can see why it's a good tool for celebrities, so they can keep the interest in them high, they need this stuff. I can see why it's a stupid tool for Joe Everyday telling us what he will be doing tonight. We don't care Joe, not now and not tomorrow. I should just re-phrase by saying Twitter is just not important for me at all in anyway shape or form. |
Neither am I, and I don't use it for that. But I agree! Just because something is a useful tool for my theatre, doesn't mean it would be useful for you. I just wanted to point out that it can be used for more than celebrity stalking and food reports.
Cheers! |

Looks like Shock Corridor is $24.99 on Amazon at the moment. If Naked Kiss goes to that price point also, I'll pick both up.
But I need to ask: Are they a good blind buy? |
I know it isn't Blu-Ray, but I watched Shoot the Piano Player last night and thought it was brilliant. I'm becoming a big fan of Truffaut, any chance we will see more of his films on Blu-Ray?

A Doinel Blu set would be awesome. As would a spine for: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070460/ |

I still haven't bought The 400 Blows on blu-ray because of my need to wait for this. I can't just sell my DVD copy, because Antoine and Collete is on the same disc, and that is my favorite Doinel story |

SlickDamian,
if you luv film noir you have to own M because it is one of the 'grandfathers' of noir. also, since you luv film noir, you have to watch almost every single film directed by Fritz Lang (the director of M). imho he helped usher in the genre in a huge way. dunno what it would be without him. a big chunk of his films have noir-qualities (imported from German Expressionistic era ofc). M, Wages of Fear & Army of Shadows are all $28 at Amazon.ca right now. They are all fantastic films and seem to fit in very well with your collection. The Red Shoes is one of my favourite films in the collection. I always find myself promoting that one to anyone who will listen. |
After just getting into the Criterion collection I would completely agree that Modern Times, Paths of Glory, Red Shoes and M are definitely worthy blind buys. If you are a true fan of classic movies these are a must for your collection and if you want one of the best for aq and pq id recommend the more recent Thin Red Line
