Is there a non-standard Blu-ray worth those prices? .

I think he meant "Single movie" or not "box set" etc... at least that's how I took it to mean.

Blue Velvet

Synecdoche, New York
Zodiac
25th Hour
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown

Please don't flame me for having almost all newer films. All of these would be amazing in Criterion editions!

:melodrama: Oh no! The problem is that all these movies have a good chance of being released by their own distributing studios. I mean, Criterion can't put their logo on everything no matter how much you would like them to.

I'm looking for people to participate.

Please give me your 10 most wanted Criterion Blu-rays. Selections may be new spines or catalog upgrades.

-don't list anything that's been announced or confirmed
-please refrain from listing titles that don't have a chance (ie The Dark Knight or There Will Be Blood).

After I have enough responses then I'll compile a 10-Most wanted Blu-rays from posters in this thread. Hey, I think Criterion reads this forum! :)

1. Mulholland Dr. (Lynch, 2001)
2. Three Colors Trilogy (Kieslowski, 1993-4)
3. Jules et Jim (Truffaut)
4. Lost Highway (Lynch, 1997)
5. Antoine et Colette (Truffaut, 1962) or any Antoine Doinel films
6. Vertigo (Hitchcock, 1958)
7. Grave of the Fireflies (Takahata, 1988)
8. Dekalog (Kieslowski)
9. Annie Hall (Allen, 1977)
10. Rear Window (Hitchcock, 1954)

But there is no such thing as a standard Criterion. They're all special, like little snowflakes.

Yes. It's better to go with unconfirmed. Although, the way the list is shaping those 2 won't be in the top 10 more than likely.

They haven't announced when they are coming, but they are coming. 12 Angry Men was confirmed in an email and The Killing was one of the films they screened at All Tomorrows Parties.

Questions for you guys concerning the report.

What do you guys want to see other than the top 10 or so requests?

I have them in Excel and can analyze as needed.

I'd love to see Grave of the Fireflies on BD even if it was Studio Canal. Come to think of it has Criterion ever released a animated feature? I also caught Bonjour Tristesse on TCM last night and my wife mentioned that it should be a Criterion release, which was today's topic a few times.

Not that I can remember. It certainly has a message.

I asked this before in this thread and one person mentioned that Criterion released Akira on laserdisc. So that would be the only one.

I personally think they should do some animation. Lots of deserving titles out there, especially in the non-US realm.

I forgot about the dog too. I'd call that a slam dunk on that hint.
