Hey guys and gals,
Pretty stoked for January's releases, finally seeing 8 1/2 in Blu-ray is pretty exciting. I'm happy I never picked up the DVD.
Been a while since I've been on here (I'm getting this Intranet thingy hooked up in my new house on thursday (damn Comcast ), so I'll be able to stop mooching off work, friends, neighbors, unknowing buisnesses (thanks Best Buy!)
Keep seeing a little more on Kurosawa on Blu, any news from the Criterion front?

Finally received Playtime and The Seventh Seal.

Waiting on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, In The Realm of the Senses and Pierrot Le Fou.

Yes, I did. Personally, that's the only way I think it should be seen.

Yes definitely, but how many people can stay focused for 4 hours? Some would get impatient.

I saw the Leopard (1963) the other day theatrically with a friend who didn't know much about it... She pretty much sighed the whole way through its 3hr20 running time. Sucked for me, because I loved it. Her problem was she stopped concentrating on who the characters were, and she didn't happen to know the faces of Alain Delon, Cardinale and Lancaster, which it made it easy for me to follow it.

Watch it in two days. The beauty of home video!

Lol one of the problems I have is, if I start a movie I'd like to see it end. I just feel weird just stopping it in between. I'll give this movie another shot, let's see how it holds up.

I just depends on the viewer I suppose. I found the film and it's subject matter to be interesting enough that I never got bored. The film never felt like it was 4 hours to me.

Just finished this. Custom cover for THE ROCK to make it fit in with your Criterion Collection. FYI: It's sized to fit the clear Criterion blu cases.

Thought I'd post it here for anyone else who might be interested.

But Criterion hasn't released "The Rock" on blu-ray, only on dvd...

captveg 10-21-2009 07:32 PM

The Buena Vista Blu-ray of The Rock is essentially the Criterion.

The Blu-ray that is out right now from Buena Vista has exactly the same content as the Criterion DVD. The case even says something to the effect of "all extras originally produced by Criterion."

Anyway.... cover's there if you want it.

I guess you won't be watching Fanny & Alexander, then, at 5 hours... or Berlin Alexanderplatz, which runs 14. :)

I might be forced toin my class, I guess if it's captivating for 4 hours then it's fine. Personally I could have done with 4 hours of Benjamin Button and Inglourious, though it won't happen :(

and I just realized Criterion has a Hendrix concert on Criterion? That's flipping crazy, anyone know how that is? I think I might get it.

Criterion should take another shot at concerts, maybe NIN or maybe that's too recent.

Nine Inch Nails has a concert BD already and it's excellent:

Of course I know that but have you seen their recent Lights in the Sky tour and the NY/LA/CH shows? They're just screaming for a bluray treatment and Trent really outdone himself with those concerts. I could care less about the Wave Goodbye tour, it was a good concert but too short and not enough theatrical stuff.

It's Hendrix at Monterey Pop!!! What else could you want? Plus, you also get Otis Redding's amazing performance at the Monterey Pop Festival on the same disc!!! If you haven't seen any of the Monterey Pop concert footage, then you're missing out. Criterion has had these amazing performances out on DVD since 2002, but it's only recently that Criterion has been able to bring them to the blu-ray format. If you're a fan of music, then there's no reason that you shouldn't watch this stuff and love it! "The Complete Monterey Pop Festival" 2-disc set is a great moment in music history.
