Close. Criterion Cast is already teasing the announcements. I don't see why you guys feel that they are less valid as a source than Criterion, since everything they've ever teased has been accurate. There is one really awesome Korean title in the August list, too.

This is not true. CriterionCast has already teased "Tokyo Story" (blu-ray upgrade) in the past and that has yet to show up. I'm sure there are a few others, as well, if we were to look.

The Criterion Collection
August titles will be announced today on Criterion.com! We think it's one of our strongest months yet... Stay tuned.

From CC's fb page...they're tooting their own horn and they have every right to do so!!

SpiderBaby 05-16-2011 05:29 PM

Yeah, the Cast gave me Demy last month and Criterion took it away.

Even more reason that posting their "predictions" shouldn't be considered "spoilers" and people shouldn't whine if they get posted here.

SECRET SUNSHINE

There, I said it.

Well so far, they have been "minor" works of directors.;) But of course everybody flips their s*** when anything
[Show spoiler]Nolan, I mean Kubrick
is released, and Criterion knows that.

Ryan tweeted about this:

Possibly an indication of what the cover may look like? (I really dig it)

You can post whatever the heck you want to post. That's part of the Internet's charm. No one's going to call you out for being a "rebel." The regulars on the board already know what's going on anyway, so feel free to run with it. List 'em all!!!!!!!!!!

That'd be funny if
[Show spoiler]The Following
is announced (with a Jim Emerson commentary naturally). Although it seems to be far on the back burner at the present (if at all). Fine by me as they have other things to get in the collection.

So, So, So... Looks like
[Show spoiler]The Killing and Cul De Sac and Secret Sunshine
so far...

Let's see if we can get them all before they are official. Isn't that the whole idea why we waste our day away here every month???

SpiderBaby 05-16-2011 05:56 PM

Well I think all the releases have been set:

[Show spoiler]
The Vigo set (awesome)
The Killing
Secret Sunshine
Cul-de-sac
Orpheus upgrade
Koreyoshi Kurahara Eclipse

2 sets

CG to the rescue!! And he doesn't even need the spoiler tags.. As usual, you are the best!!

Edit, looks like you wrapped them up. You don't want the others to casticize you.. :D

Hell, why not. The worst that can happen is that I'm wrong.

So, for August Criterion Cast have teased:

Secret Sunshine (Lee Chang Dong)
The Killing
Cul-de-sac
possibly Intimidation (1960 Japanese film noir I've never heard of)

If that's all, it would be a pretty light month. All are definite buys from me eventually. I have the Korean LE of Secret Sunshine, but I sold off The Killing when I found out Criterion would get to it.

I'm going to give you an INSIDE SCOOP that you can't tell anybody else, or my source might be fired. Okay, I have info that leads me to believe that there will be a [spoiler]Jean Vigo set[spoiler] announced. Oh crap, spoiler!

jmcy2k 05-16-2011 06:30 PM

They're up on Criterion.com

ccfixx 05-16-2011 06:30 PM

Cover are going up.

Battle of Algiers!!!! Finally!

Schonfelder 05-16-2011 06:33 PM

The Polanski and Kubrick titles are of less interest, but if the Vigo set and Orpheus trilogy are in blu-ray, august will be great.

RichardP 05-16-2011 06:34 PM

Algiers
If
The Killing
Cul-De-Sac
Orpheus

Very nice. That Killing cover is freaking fantastic.

Beta Man 05-16-2011 06:34 PM

oooh.... that is nice!
