Geez...I guess misery loves company...reality has hit a few of us. :(

CC...This will be the first summer that I've had a car with functioning AC in over 2 years!

Black Moon
Zazie dans Le Metro
People on Sunday

All of them are $27,99 now, so $18.66 each before coupon. Cheaper then with the 50% off sale

...and shipped. This seems to be some kind of a record for B&N. Now to wait 60 days. :ohnoes:

Hate to add insult to injury, but some of those titles may not be available during the sale. If the sale goes a month, The Killing and If... would not be, and Carlos definitely will not be. If the sale goes for less than a month, The Battle of Algiers might not make it either. :(

Don't think I've seen their Criterion sale go longer than two weeks, but if it has and I'm just fuzzy about it, it definitely won't go beyond three.

Have they shipped or are they 'scheduled to ship'? I'm generally pretty okay with B&N but they do have an annoying way of immediately freezing orders into 'shipped' status where they can't be changed or canceled even though they don't actually ship until later.

Incidentally, that guy also implied that you could pre-order and pre-pay for titles released after the sale for the sale price. I don't believe this, but it may be a YMMV thing depending on the sales clerk.

The preorder might work if you do ship-to-home from instore. On the surface making an online order through a retail clerk sounds like the worst of both worlds but it's actually pretty flexible.

I basically did the same thing Eny- did and mine has been shipped and is scheduled to be here tomorrow. Ordered yesterday. B&N can be annoying on shipping, but maybe they have worked out some of the kinks.

I saw Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris this afternoon. It was a delightful film, one of his best in long time.

I received my shipment from DD yesterday. Kiss Me Deadly came in a cardboard mailer and arrived in perfect condition, The Night of the Hunter was shipped in a padded envelope and had the bottom of the cardboard case crushed in. I will now have to fight with the CS dept. to get that replaced and chances are they would just ship it again in the same type of container.

Lesson: Do not ever buy anything from DD.com that does not come in a solid plastic case.

Is the upcoming B&N sale for online orders that you have shipped as well?

majorkonig41 06-30-2011 09:11 PM

Does anyone know who long the 15% off coupon will be valid for? Will it overlap into the sale?

I finally bit the bullet and sign up to BN.Com and bought

Black Moon
Zazie dans Le Metro
People on Sunday

However I could only apply the coupon for the order total not for each title:confused: Still happy though as I get 3 titles for price of 2:D

Say I were to buy Fish Tank, wouldn't there be a small price difference ($3) buying it from Amazon now than wait for the B&N sale? At Amazon it's $21.49 and I'm a Prime member so I have free shipping. 50% off B&N's price would be $18 + shipping so in the end it would cost about the same. but it sounds like B&N's shipping takes a while and orders may be cancelled for no reason and there's also the chance the movie is in stock in store.

Edit: I'm also looking to buy Hunger. If I buy them together, I guess it would be smart to wait for B&N's sale to buy both. Thoughts?

Also what are the benefits of being a B&N member?

For me Amazon is the most reliable shipper. I would probably get it from Amazon if the price is within $2 or $3

I definitely agree about going with Amazon regarding Fish Tank, but when you throw Hunger into the equation - which is $27.99 on Amazon and now says "Only 12 left in stock--order soon (more on the way)"...

Whoa, maybe they have. They just mailed me a USPS tracking number for the order I placed this afternoon.

Free shipping at B&N for orders over 25 bucks (nonmembers), but you do have to pay tax (in most states?).

Membership = 10% off in-store, free shipping, some coupons.

They take the 15% off the higher valued item, not from the total. ;)

DVDbeaver says the following about the new german release of Fritz Langs M:
Quote:

b) The film is now also more complete than on any other previous presentation since (its ban in) 1934. Much of the film's missing footage that was missing in various (mostly interrupted) sequences was found in a now preserved 35mm duplicate negative film element located in France. Most shots of "M" are now complete or almost complete. Both Criterion and Eureka (who bought the 2003 Criterion master, the same master was color re-timed in early 2010) are based on previous stages (in other words are not as complete).
Does anyone know anything about the extra footage?
