I haven't decided yet. I would like Kiss Me Deadly, Charade, The Thin Red Line, Insignificance, and Seven Samurai. I can only get a couple. Decisions! Lol

Tom Hiddleston 07-12-2011 05:55 AM

Pierrot le Fou.

I only ordered Pierrot le Fou. I am going to try to buy everything else in store. I used the 15% coupon, so the total was $18.xx with free shipping.

Anyone purchasing via paypal? I noticed that it goes through paypal goes back to confirmation screen, back to paypal....having no success purchasing. Hmm...

UPDATE: Upon the second paypal visit, it then works...
--
There are only four this time that I still have yet to pick up but I picked up two Blu-rays via the 15% off code:

- Kiss Me Deadly
- Blow Out

The other one that I still need is Stage & Spectacle box set which I still haven't purchased and Powell's "I Know Where I'm Going".

Originally, wanted "Harakiri" but seeing that "Harakiri" is coming out to Blu-ray from MOC, I guess I can forget that one...

I used Paypal and did not have any problems.

Crap, The Battle of Algiers wasn't included in the sale. Then there's nothing for me.

Sympathy 07-12-2011 06:38 AM

Cronos
House
Diabolique
Kiss Me Deadly
Pale Flower
The Seventh Seal
Solaris
The Thin Red Line
Walkabout
Wings of Desire
Videodrome

$214.17

I probably went overboard. Oh well, really excited about all of these. They're all blind buys. :D

Zacherywolf7 07-12-2011 07:09 AM

Well, you guys have convinced me.
I will not be getting Fear and Loathing, but Pierrot Le Fou.
This means I will have to tell the cashier to cancel my instore pickup of Fear and Loathing, and I mistakenly asked them to hold the DVD version of Yojimbo/Sanjuro, so I will have them cancel that too.
Kind of embarrassing.:ohnoes:

In regards to the 10% coupon: If you used the same one as I did, it is stated in the Details for it that it doesn't cover "products available for pre-order". It's a bummer but it still gave me an additional $21.50 off the order (approx. half the shipping cost to Sweden :( ).

I bought the following in this sale, so now everything Criterion Blu Ray up until and including the pre-orders in August should be home safe :D :

Beauty and the Beast
Fat Girl
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
High and Low
Insignificance
Leon Morin, Priest
Life During Wartime
Makioka Sisters
The Music Room
Naked
Pale Flower
Smiles of a Summer Night
Something Wild
Sweetie
The Times of Harvey Milk
Zazie Dans Le Metro

VanDammage 07-12-2011 07:50 AM

I nabbed a gaggle of movies this time around!

Solaris
Great Dictator
Le Cercle Rouge
Kiss Me Deadly

all for $87 dollars, all 17.99 because of coupon I found via google. It's cost me a bit more than most because I live in Canada so shipping was $11 and tax was ~$4. Regardless still a great deal because HMV sells criterions typically for $34.99 and up! While Amazon.ca usually has them for $38 which is horrifying! :ohnoes:

Yami 07-12-2011 08:53 AM

I'd be paying $28.47 for one Blu-Ray and shipping to UK. Not that good a deal for me :o

BohemianGraham 07-12-2011 09:33 AM

Nevermind, I found the magic coupon code.

trombone dixie 07-12-2011 09:58 AM

What are your thoughts on Pierrot le fou? I'm thinking of ordering it online since it's OOP through Criterion. I own Breathless and Vivre sa vie and love them both.

BohemianGraham 07-12-2011 10:12 AM

I just ordered the following:

Lola Montes
Seven Samurai
8 1/2
Something Wild

I may grab a few more before the sale ends, as I had just ordered a bunch last week, and I owe my mother for the Nook Color she grabbed me while she was in the states. There's still a bunch on my wish list, but I really need to cut back on my BD purchases. Naked is suppose to ship this week from Amazon.ca, and I also pre-ordered If... and The Killing/Killer's Kiss from Amazon.com. I also have those nasty bills and rent to pay. :D

HotRats 07-12-2011 10:36 AM

A good opportunity to pick up a few titles I couldn't afford when first issued.

Robinson Crusoe On Mars
Mystery Train
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence
The Darjeeling Limited
Insignificance
People On Sunday

and the 10% discount worked nicely

You probably wouldn't like the transfer anyway. ;)

The worst is those old Warner snapper cases, moisture from the air gets into the cardboard and because they've got plastic frames, they can sometimes warp pretty badly.

I use small plastic bags for BR storage at the moment, just in case - until I can get a drier environment for them.

If living in such an environment, would condensation not build-up within the bags, as well? I've seen it happen to comic books, so I was thinking that it would do the same with movies if you're already in such a humid environment.

I'm not expecting much, but I hope it's at least acceptable. And for all my complaining I still own a number of discs that I would consider significantly flawed. :)

Speaking of which, DVDBeaver caps for High and Low. Looks pretty nice (though the real thing should be a bit sharper), similar to Yojimbo/Sanjuro I would say. Hoping mine will ship soon, have not seen any of Kurosawa's non-samurai pictures apart from Dersu Uzala.

sellcm 07-12-2011 01:39 PM

What 10% coupon?

Arkadin 07-12-2011 01:44 PM

well I have every single bd and dvd I own bagged so it's not a foreign issue to me. ;)
btw: bagsunlimited is definitely the way to go. they have a side opening dvd sized bag that I use for digibook style releases and larger Criterion bds. they work great, so that's what I recommend.
