I got seven samurai, something wild, and the great dictator all for $54.54. Used the 8$ coupon from shopkick and got seven samurai for $14.50.

I ordered The Music Room. I'm the first to order and actually will watch it.

I'm waiting for the release date to order it because it's not going to be back-ordered, and I would like the additional 10% off.

I thought that too, until I saw alot of people seeing the dvdbeaver review and asked if they should blind buy it just because of a transfer (which I can bet people will still be upset about when they actually watch it). So I wasn't about to have this backordered by a bunch of people who will prob never watch it, so I went ahead with it.

ShellOilJunior 07-12-2011 07:59 PM

My bet is Beauty and the Beast could hit the Red Shoes-like back order we saw last July.

I can see this and prob Kiss Me Deadly (obvious reasons) backordered at some point.

ShellOilJunior 07-12-2011 08:02 PM

I'm definitely going to pickup The Music Room and I intend to watch it. (!)

The B&N sale with the 10% coupon is a good deal, especially for those from Canada. I just ordered

Army of Shadows
Bigger Than Life
Fat Girl
Hunger
Pale Flower
Stagecoach

They're all blind buys for me. What do you guys think of that set of films? What should I expect from these discs?

What did you end up paying for all of these and shipping to Canada, was thinking of doing the same but was wondering about shipping/taxes/customs etc

Weird isn't it?

Darkcritic 07-12-2011 08:27 PM

Just got from buying the first batch for the sale :D!! Here is what I got:

- Diabolique
- Playtime
- Zazie dans le Metro
- Army of Shadows
- Vivre sa Vie
- Paris, Texas
- Repulsion

Waiting to get my second batch this afternoon...

- Solaris
- Mystery Train

The store is also holding me a copy of Kino's Battleship Potemkin, not Criterion related but great non-the-less .

He's just looking for attention again. Engage if you like, it will only prolong these shocking insights in film.

rev.and.ride 07-12-2011 08:36 PM

Went the online route, used the extra 10% coupon and picked up:

High and Low
The Night of The Hunter
Paris, Texas
Sweet Smell of Success
Vivre sa Vie

Also picked up the out of print Le Trou on DVD for less than $14!

:D

Here's hoping they arrive in one piece and reasonably soon. B&N shipping/customer service has a pretty poor rep.

Shipping isn't that bad. It was 11.95 for 4 BDs and a little over 3 bucks tax. I'm shipping to NS though. Not sure about customs yet, as the order I did last week is still in the mail. That one was 3 BDs, and shipping was 9 bucks or so.

If you want express, it's like 30 bucks.

Annoying that the Beastie Boys Video Anthology isn't listed as a Criterion at B&N. It's one of the few I feel 100% confident will never be released on Blu-ray, I figured I'd finally pick it up for $15 since I love the Beastie Boys... but it's still $27.

One only has to venture into the men's bathroom for attention. I'm in stall #3... doing #2.

And here is my leech, sucking on every post of mine. I'll keep doing them if you like. Funny though, isn't every single post about someone wanting attention on the last page? And "my insights in film"? I didn't know this forum involved insights in film, just "look what I can buy" and "I love cardboard!".

That's good to know.... if you were in Stall #2 doing #1 I would ask you what you were doing taking up a stall for a #1.....

If you were in Stall #1 doing a #3, I would ask you to refrain from such acts in public.

MAYBE the reviewers. Maybe though. Well, they don't buy them so they don't count.
