I would buy it but that is me... part of me says wait until release date etc... sometimes my local Best Buys put them out early, but depends. In MN here.

Ordered 9 replacement cases 1 month ago today, still haven't received anything. Emailed Criterion about it 4 days ago, still no response.

For what a great company they are, their customer service is pretty atrocious.

WOW that gives me an eta on my cases then I ordered 4 of them and still nothing.

The least they could do when one pays for them and they do ship is they could at least send an e-mail to you notifying you of the shipment that way we at least know what might be going on.

I had a reasonable one cultivated a few weeks ago but tried to trim it and made a balls of of. So it's now all gone :(

I've always found their customer service to be second to none. I expect they're swamped with people requesting replacement cases, and they're just not set up for that.

jamal2 01-07-2010 03:34 PM

I'm sorry but to go an entire month without even so much as a confirmation that they received my payment is a completely unacceptable business practice. No company should ever make a customer wait that long without so much as acknowledging their existence.

Tell 'em you want your money back, then. Or, better yet, file a refund through PayPal. Your problem of Criterion's "poor customer service" will then be solved. That'll show 'em.

I, myself, have never had any problems with Criterion's customer service.

jamal2 01-07-2010 04:11 PM

Why would I get a refund? I still want the cases, and I know I'll get them eventually. Criterion is a great company, and I will continue to buy and be satisfied with their products, but that doesn't make this situation any less appalling. I know you like them too, but your snarky defense is a little ridiculous.

Same here. Ordered on 12/4, have sent 2 emails, and nothing.

PowellPressburger 01-07-2010 05:24 PM

At the least they should do is maybe post a message maybe on their site that hey there is another delay on cases for said titles etc. Otherwise I just would think they would ship out in a timely manner , and would imagine they were lost or mis delievered.

but that order from early december and still nothing is crazy, i bet it is one case holding up the order also. Maybe?

anomynous 01-07-2010 05:29 PM

The order was for Bottle Rocket, El Norte & The 400 Blows. I know they didn't have Bottle Rocket in at first, but they got them in sometime before Christmas, which was almost 2 weeks ago. I've sent 2 emails, they could at least reply to them.

stobbart 01-07-2010 05:43 PM

December tends to be a time for vacation from work. Most non-retail businesses (non-retail in the sense that they do not have a B&M store) just got back to the office a couple of days ago on the 4th. And I assume they have thousands of emails to sort through from people sending 2 emails wanting to know about their order status. Its Criterion, your money is safe, they will get you the product as soon as they can.

Automated email response :duh:
"We're all getting drunk 'till mid January. Cheers."
It's the least they can do.

But yes, y'all will get those cases... e v e n t u a l l y

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

So it's not reasonable to be concerned after more than a month after paying? Especially since other people have recieved their cases already, or at least have received "Your order has shipped" emails?

Please, people need to stop acting like Criterion can do no wrong.

fdm 01-07-2010 05:55 PM

People need to stop getting so worked up about every little thing. ;)

My thoughts exactly. If you look back, this thread has turned into a combination of the following posts...

a) What are these replacement cases everyone keeps talking about?

b) Does anyone know where I can get the replacement cases?

c) $5 per case!?!? Why should I have to pay extra for something that should've been done from the beginning?

d) Does anyone know if any of the other replacement cases besides "The Third Man" are available?

e) Has anyone heard from Criterion about their replacement cases being shipped?

f) I've sent e-mails to Criterion about my replacement cases, but haven't received any kind of reply.

And, I'm sure I've missed a few of the repetitive posts, but I'm sure other people feel the same way. And, I'm sure that I'm even guilty of a few of those same posts, but you see what I'm getting at, right?

I don't recall when I paid my $5 for the Third Man, but still nothing. At least I have record of it, I'll give them till March, see what happens.

Then we should add some information on the first page of this thread. I'd like to mention a few things :

1) Canada is considered as Domestic (USD$5 per case for the first two, then USD$2.50 per case)

2) The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button does not have a replacement case but forum member reallyagi has made a custom cover for the new clear plastic case and it looks just like the original.

It's nice to see Criterion lovers are everywhere. I only own 7 of their blus so far which are Bottle Rocket, For All Mankind, In The Realm Of The Senses, Repulsion, Monsoon Wedding, Benjamin Button, and The Seventh Seal. If everyone held the standard Criterion does when it comes to their transfers, we wouldn't even have to bother with these rating sites.
