Just finished watching Antichrist for the first time and man was is bad. One of the worst movies I've seen in quite some time. I'm very surprised this film is probably coming to Criterion. Did anyone else feel the same way I do?

Not I, said the still-born deer. I already own the UK Artificial Eye blu-ray release, and I'll gladly pick up Criterion's release, as well. My girlfriend cringed a bit the first time we watched it, but then again, she can be a "softy" sometimes. ;)

I haven't seen the film yet but other I know have rented it thru netflix or their cue, and hated it.

However I like most of Lars' work. I remember being floored at the screening of Dancer in the Dark and how at the end you could hear a pin drop in the theatre and it was packed. No one could even breath, it was intense.

I loved DOGVILLE also, esp the ending.

So I Antichrist is not everyone's cup of tea but I think the directors work can turn a lot of people off.

It's also older, and was either lost or in a terrible condition. But I'm sure there will be some who want to know why this doesn't look like other older movies, regardless if they're from the same era.

I think they look wonderful! I can't wait for the release.

I am with CCfixx on this one. i loved Antichrist and can't wait to own it. Not only was it challenging and a brave idea for a story, but I found it artistically and visually stunning. And that was just from netflix streaming. I can't wait to see how good it will look in blu.

one of the best movies ever (it doesn't matter that LvT is my #1 on the directors list)

Does anyone know if Amazon is selling "Bottle Rocket" with the plastic case, or do I need to plan on ordering the plastic case directly from Criterion? Both BestBuy's near me are still selling the original casing.

I've wondered myself if all the cardboard versions have finally been sold of all those titles.
I have left some of mine sealed so I can just exchange them, and I wish we could get some people who have received "plastic case" versions" from amazon to "check in"
maybe someone will see these posts who knows something.

Hopefully so.

why obviously? Spartacus is a universal film. obviously another universal release didn't make it to blu-ray criterion "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas".

Am I the only one who thinks Monty Python and the Holy Grail on Criterion Blu-Ray is a real possibility? You would think that there is something going on since they haven't even given it a date yet. I think with criterion's history with the monty python films that this would be the logical next step.

At this point Flying Circus (rumored) would be released first.

It's a good idea though, yes? I mean who wouldn't buy a MPATHG Criterion Blu-Ray?!

Quite possibly the worst film I ever paid to see... I can not for the life of me understand how anyone loves the film. Its intolerably pretentious.

Why obviously? First of all, you obviously didn't read the question correctly. So, here it is again.

jmcy2k is asking that because of Universal's upcoming release of "Spartacus" then we shouldn't expect a Criterion blu-ray release of "Spartacus."

So, I replied... "yes, obviously."

If I felt that my answer was going to be confusing I would've elaborated on it, and it would've gone a bit like this...

"Yes, jmcy2k... because of Universal's upcoming blu-ray release of "Spartacus" it is obvious that we should not expect a "Spartacus" blu-ray of Criterion.

So, in hindsight your reply is correct but calling me out as being incorrect is obviously incorrect. :) Got all of that?

I know that Criterion is working on The Seven Samurai but has there been any word that it will oficially make it out this year or is it looking like next year?

They said they are going to drop everything to bring this one movie out this year. No later.
