Quicker than I expected, Great News!

Mr. Cinema 05-04-2010 01:38 AM

Here's hoping Barnes and Noble has another Criterion sale this year. I think they include pre-orders.

All right guys, list your top five Criterion blu-ray releases so far in order of preference.

This is harder than it sounds. I own all released so far but have not yet viewed Ride with the Devil.

1. 8 1/2
2. Paris, Texas
3. Days of Heaven
4. Pierrot Le Fou
5. Chungking Express

Wanted to Add Che, For All Mankind, Revanche, Wages of Fear, & Yojimbo/Sanjuro Boxset but they would not all fit...

They haven't in the past. I remember being disappointed that last fall's ended a few weeks before Gomorrah was released, and there was no discount for the pre-orders.

Can't wait for this one though. Sale or no sale, it's mine on release day.

Day one purchase for me. I know I'm in the minority here, but I prefer this film over SPR.

looking forward to seeing this again-- very underrated (a little different for many audiences but I really got into it)

I've bought several Criterion titles (Repulsion, Wages Of Fear, Man Who Fell to Earth, Howards End) all from Amazon at very reasonable prices (all under 20 bucks) so I'm confident that we'll see a good price on it:)

Lincoln6Echo 05-04-2010 03:23 AM

Could this release be the long rumored extended cut?

ManUtd 05-04-2010 03:24 AM

Finally, one of my must-have movies.

ClaytonMG 05-04-2010 03:32 AM

An absolutely amazing film. Hans Zimmer's score in lossless sound? I am all over this one... I also hope that it's the extended cut (I am assuming the extended cut would more accurately be called the "Director's Cut") but I doubt we'll ever see that.

Still, it'll be nice to see this movie in HD and actually have at least a feature or two to go along with it.

I agree. It is underrated. I haven't seen it in years.

I feel the opposite, though the action is better in SPR, the characters in TRL are more developed...IMO

Well that's good it shot up like that. Hopefully you get more.

jacobsever 05-04-2010 04:23 AM

Also, I just watched Hunger, last night, and again tonight.
Loved it. Watched it with my mom tonight. Everything about it I loved, the shots, the simplicity, the acting, the long conversation, the dedication Michael Fassbender had to his role. Will probably end up watching it many more times as well.

Kinda weird though, I watched Eden Lake the night before watching Hunger, and had no idea Michael Fassbender was in both. What an odd coincidence!

Thank you to Hunger for providing me with a new desktop!

18 watchers! ;)
(and that's only 3 days into it)

SpiderBaby 05-04-2010 04:26 AM

Be sure to post how much it sold for when it ends. I am now curious.:D

Here's a special edition I thought I'd never see. And from Criterion, no less. Definite purchase for me.
