Why can't you? Have you called the stores? I picked one up this morning with the 25% coupon.

Really? So, you got an amazing deal: 50% Criterion sale + 25% coupon + 10% member discount?
If true...wow!

If you go into the store...yeah. But still, you may want to try it. There are two 25% off coupons available until the 14th.

But I tried online to use the coupons...none of them worked for me. I contacted B&N and all they told me was that coupon works on some items. So, maybe some coupons are e-mail targeted. I don't know...

Sadly..... I paid way too much....... 50% off, + 25% off coupon..... and I'm not a member :p

I'm not complaining :D

As far as packaging for the BBS..... I think Criterion has been leaking them here and there..... but I don't know if a complete packaging spread (like DVDBeaver does, inside, etc.) has been done yet.....

Thanks Beta, BTW, that was a great deal on the Kurosawa box.

Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times

I know that this is probably being discussed in the Criterion thread, but I greatly dislike searching through that enormous pile of posts, and pick out the ones I am interested in, so I decided to create a new one for the upcoming Criterion release of Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times on November, 16th.

http://http://www.blu-ray.com/movies...Blu-ray/14982/

I love Charlie Chaplin movies, and am very excited about this release, hopefully the first of many by the fine folks over at Criterion.

I don't even remember having seen it, but I know it's going to be fantastic, as I love all the other Charlie Chaplin films.

Have you pre-ordered it yet?
Is it a day one purchase for you?
Where are you going to get it?
How do you feel about this release?
No spoilers please.
I know this is a very old film, but some people might not have seen it, so please respect that. :)

I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Super excited as well bluyoda!! One of my fav Chaplin films (though, I'm still very partial to City Lights)

I'm planning on getting it day one in store at Barnes and Noble. Not only is it $20, but I'm gonna try and use the 10% off member discount and $5 coupon.:whip:

We don't want everyone to create a thread of their own when there is something they want to discuss...... imagine the number of Avatar threads there would be

It's a great movie! Have you taken the time to watch The Darjeeling Limited?

Kagemusha

Wed.
Paddle to the Sea
Harakiri
Charade

I've watched and thoroughly enjoyed
Chungking Express-excellent in its execution, interesting characters and always wanting to see what happens next.

House-one of the craziest films I've ever seen. Intriguing. I love the style and visuals but in the beginning it almost takes you out of the movie.

not sure what to watch now.

I watched Harakiri for the first time on Thanksgiving night. Probably one of the best Samurai films IMHO.

thanks for the sale tip!

I ordered Paths of Glory and Days of Heaven for my collection.
:)

Believe it or not kndy...there are three. All have different "barcode numbers". I would guess that if you had three separate purchases, that they would all go through without an issue.

I want to go to Staples to print out the resized artwork I made many months ago, but I want to include art on the inside. Which one do you guys think will look best?

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4...idecovers4.jpg

I like this one! But just FYI. I've been into Staples a couple of times and they refuse to print my covers due to "copy right licensing". I would recommend going to FedEx Kinkos or wherever you can find a DIY kiosk and laser printing it on regular paper, or your own magazine paper. Just as good, if not better.

I went into Staples to have them print a major project I had been working on for months, it was a digibook collection I had been working on for a major studio - cannot say which or what, anyway, they wouldn't print the darn thing at first because I didn't have the copyright licensing papers. Anway, I finally got FedEx to print the workprint and I then took it to Staples to score the work (press a crease down the middle to fold into a book) and I left it with them. When I went back to pick it up, they hadn't taken their time on the job and carelessly scored it without giving 2 sh!ts what they were doing, so none of the pages matched up.

Anyway, point is I don't recommend taking anything to Staples because they wont print copyrighted material, i.e. logos and such, and if they do, they'll find a way to screw up your project.

Moral of the story is: Go Criterion! (to stay on topic!!)

Like you, I love Charlie Chaplin movies and I have them and hope to make an upgrade to Blu-ray for them. I have Modern Time on pre-order. It's not the movie I wish they would have release first from Chaplin but I will not complaint and cannot wait to see it.

There are three member coupons and one non-member coupon. I used all four of them today in the same transaction for four films. The cashier was surprised to see four of them but they all have different codes and they worked fine.

I've never had a Criterion release in the past because I live in Australia and never had a region free BD player before. But when I found out about this sale (and the state of the Australian dollar) I decided to buy a region-free player and ended up grabbing 41 Blu-rays and 17 DVDs.

A dozen of them are already delayed, though, and I expect that to happen to a few more too. B&N haven't done much to impress me after my purchases. Am I in any danger of having these orders canceled? That would suck.
