The key is not to do too much at the time you see. I only add a few pics at the time.

All you do is put up 2 pics and be done for a while. It's all up to you :D. I just feel proud to see my setup on this site. :D No One is forcing you either. I bother cause I wanted to post it there. I also like reading the comments about it.

I listened to the Strokes on Vinyl, a little bit of the Dolphins-Bears game, and History channel right now. Everything in 2-channel w sub

They are pretty smooth sounding. They sound small, but as surrounds I am positive they will do great and I am very happy to have them. They have been up doing duty as mains all evening. Imaging is very good, but they need a little extra toe-in. They do sound smaller then the Energys, Obviously. My wife made a comment about that actually. she asked if I was gonna leave them as fronts and I said no, then she said, OK, cause they sound small. Theres a little bit of symbilance on "F" & "S", but otherwise a very nice speakers. I do like their lower mid-range with Tenor voices. Definetly a speaker that someone on a budget should highly consider. The Longer I play them the larger they sound however.

Im thinking for surrounds I am gonna test them with a battle scene from The Pacific. But that will be tomorrow, wife is in bed already, she is going to the mid-night showing of Harry Potter, so she went to bed early, so no loud action scenes ATM.

Thanks again.

Do they carry Canadian gear also such as Gemme, Totem, Paradigm Anthem, Bryston, Moon, Classé?

Classé is here. Looked for Totem, none to be found. Others, have never seen but never really looked.

Arcam, Naim, Cambridge are here too.

Also Usher, don't have any time for them, but see them getting noticed in some audio mags. How are they thought of there?

When I went to the Usher store almost 10 years ago all there stuff was knock offs of Spendor and Sonus Faber, and the guys in the store were proud of it:eek:, even had some Spendor 3/5's to compare, but they didn't want to play them. After a while we convinced them to let us have a listen, and OMFG, might look alike but sound alike? No way! Any hoo, I have no time for Usher now, no matter what mags may say.

I think Arcam and Cambridge have been building some of their lower end stuff in the PRC, Usher is built and owned by a Chinese company. Monitor Audio has all their speakers built in the PRC, as is the B&W 600 and CM series.

Need to add photos of gear and titles of BDs because we need to know what you got!:whip:

I would say we need to know so we can harshly critique it, but everyone here is so nice, they hardly say anything remotely negative. I had my TV on my center speaker, which was on a glass shelf. No one said a word. I knew it was insane, and wrong; maybe people just thought mentioning the obvious to an idiot who obviously didn't know better was a complete waste of time. :p

We still would like to see the gallery of HT and all of the BD collection. I like looking through for ideas of what to do with my gear and what BDs I forgot to buy.

I will eventually get to it but after tonight don't expect it to come quickly. I got through about half of our movies and that's enough for me for awhile. I won't participate in the ratings system on here, it's total BS. The problem is that everyone is too nice, some people do deserve a 10 on here but not like people dole out perfect score's on here. I don't think people have to be harsh, I just wish there were some sort of guidelines for the scoring system to separate the good from the great.

They're really only meant to be used as surrounds or a bedroom system etc. I used to have the towers from that series, I don't remember the model number though. I found them too laid back for HT, to be honest I really disliked the center speaker. Do you think they will blend with the Dyn's as surrounds for the time that you need them? I've never heard Dyn's before so I don't know what they sound like.

Man do I agree. It seems like more of a poplarity contest than true ratings. There are maybe 10-15 true 10 systems on here and I might be being generous. I know my system is not a 10 at all. I have a nice system but nowhere near what my ratings are. I think the is the elite, the great, the good and so on. I do appreciate those elite posting pictures though because it helps me to see whats next up the chain.

I agree with both of you guys on the ratings. but it seems if you don't rate 8 or above then people will PM you and ask you rude questions about the rating you gave them.... I know my setup is not that great, its average.

I agree totally. I think too many people get offended by a rating other than a 10. It does not bother me, I know where I stand in the grand scheme of things.

I am going to delete all my ratings and start again as soon as new sofa arrives. Also put a request for honest remarks and honest ratings. I know mine is not a perfect 5/5 and there are 735 things I'd like to change. So suggestions will be more than welcomed.

I'm off to rate your setup. Please do the same. And don't worry about being nice.

Dont rate now, I have not posted my pics. The pictures you see now are not what my system is now. I have pics of my new system in my gallery thread but not in my gallery. Waitng on my cables from signal cable to be made and shipped and that will be it til I get the new marantz pre/pro.

Yeah, they are more laidback and warm then the Energys, when I plugged the Energys back in, the sound seemed more forward and the Imaging improved a little. The symbilance is reduced, still there a little, cant avoid that due to the aluminum tweeters on the Energys... but they are definetly more forward sounding speakers the Energys compared to the Missions. I see why you don't like them for HT. I do have to say that the Strokes did sound a bit flat and muffled, but until I plugged in my Energys a few minutes ago, I thought it was just my ears adjusting to their sound.

The Dyns sound extremely neutral. I have never heard a speaker that sounds like them, they are neutral. NEUTRAL. But with very good detail and slam, and some nice top end sizzle. The Missions will do just fine as surrounds, Thanks.

That's the part the is soooo gay, it's like high school. I try to not go down to that level and say level headed but I have to say it really pisses me off. Most people who take the time to post pictures don't have bad systems, usually good system's. But honestly how does someone with Polk's deserve the same score as someone with B&W 800 series, Paradigm Signatures, Totem's or Dyn's? Give me a break! That's the think that makes me not care about a gallery, if someone gave my system a perfect score the first thought in my head would be "What an idiot!" The think is that I'm always harder on myself than anyone else is, maybe my standard's are too high? It's good that people are proud of their systems but I think alot of people need a reality check, maybe including myself. I know one think for sure, my system isn't a perfect 10 and I'm ok with that.

Hey your the man who got rid of the anthem. When I read you were getting rid of that amp I was like wow. No offense but I didn't think emo and anthem were even in the same league. I know before I bought my b & k's, it was btw them and the anthems. But I would love to see your system just hearing you talk about.

BigAl87 11-19-2010 04:06 AM

I could not care less about ratings I just like the comments and constructive ones too, if there is room for improvement I want to know and I know their always is.

Andrew, You just pin point the problem about ratings, their is just no guidelines and people rate your system base what ever they feel like, I mean if someone wants to get a good score they will score anyone a 10 lol.

I think I will disable them.

Ah! too late. :ohnoes:

I'll delete it in a few minutes. I'll leave it up for you to enjoy.

Just checked mine. Just a 4.8, not so popular.

Waiting for your thoughts.

When you getting your Dyns? Still no luck on selling the Energys I see. If it was just me I'd have bought those speakers of you for my living room setup but the roommate footed most of the bill for the polks. Plus he got a nice employee discount on them. For home theater/surround sound I'm not very picky. However 2 channel music I'm becoming a bit of a snob since obtaining my Dynaudio 3.4s and hearing Rhett's Sapphires (that wasn't even fully broken in yet as he just got them). Now he has the naim/octave stuff. I can only imagine...I'll find out soon enough.
