The smilies might as well be pictures of my family because they look exactly how we look when this happens with our boys!

I know that some of you all have been keeping up with my baby saga, but for the rest of you to keep you all in the loop we found out that my wife was pregnant and everyone was happy. About 1 week after finding out my wife started bleeding and cramping which is the signs of a miscarriage. Well her Dr put her on bed rest, this is about 3 weeks ago. We had been back to the Dr's everyweek, sometimes twice and then they refered us over to a High risk Dr. Yesterday, we went to see this high risk prego OB and they looked at the baby and the blood that was around it and gave us a 90-95% success rate on the baby being to term and healthy. They still want her on bedrest for the next 2 weeks, and then they will re-evaluate her and the baby to see what she can or cannot do.

Thanks everyone for all your support over the past few weeks, I will keep you updated as we get progress.

My wife and I will be praying for you and family :).

callas,

I am probably one of the few that did not know about your awful situation. I am so happy to hear about the odds you were given! Make sure your wife follows the instructions to the letter. Hang in there and may you be blessed with more good news. :)

callas01 12-18-2009 04:42 PM

Mr Roy & Vega

Thanks Guys. I appreciate it.

Great to see some good news callas!! Although not completely out of the woods, I hope the news you got ended a lot of worry and concern. I am happy it was a positive meeting, and I hope you continue to get this kind of news in the next 7 or so months. I will keep in my thoughts and prayers........

callas01 12-19-2009 04:42 AM

So with all this madness with regards to the baby drama you wouldn't think it could get much worse..... OK so I have been sick with this blasted cold all week long and my throat is killing me.... but then last night my wife started throwing up and ended up having mild food poisoning.... what are the chances right.

Anyways on a HT note, I did get my Sony blu-ray player. It is quite nice. I compared it to the panasonic. They both play blu-rays quite nice, but I notice that they do have different pictures. The Sony is darker and the Panasonic is brighter. I know we are talking about blu-ray players but they do produce slightly different pictures.

callas,

Glad to hear things are better. Hope that all works well and baby comes full term and is healthy.

Merry Christmas all of you..

Hope you and your families are able to celebrate and enjoy one another. May you keep the true meaning of Christmas close to you.

callas01 12-27-2009 05:42 AM

well guys,
I have an opportunity to make some small changes to my setup. I am getting some money coming my way sometime in February. Now I have to remodel my front bathroom and a few other things, however I am expecting that I will have about $400-800 to play with....

My initial thoughts were to add a new Sub, say an eD A2-300 and/or a AV stand that has one of the TV mounts and consolidate my componenets, not only that buy my audio rack is not deep enough, so getting new AV storage unit should give me deeper shelfs so I can add say a new reciever. Or would a better receiver and sub, or receiver and AV rack?

What do you all think? Where should I be looking to upgrade my system?

JJ 12-27-2009 06:03 AM

Unfortunate that the 920 doesn't have pre-outs...I'd say sub and new receiver first...what's the budget, ol buddy?

JasonR 12-27-2009 06:55 AM

I think the sub would make the most immediate impact. A receiver with preouts should be next on the list though. Even if it is not a step forward right away, at least you have options...

SeanMF 12-27-2009 08:31 AM

Get the receiver first. You then build around that. I'd try and get both sometime soon if possible. You could get a eD sub and decent receiver I would think for around $800.

Yea, I regret not getting the ES2400 or the Pio 1018 for Dec 08 christmas. But I too was thinking the Sub first and then a new TV stand only because the receiver drives my speakers really well, and in order to get a new receiver I will need an Audio/Video rack deep enough to hold a new receiver. That was the reason I went with the Sony over the Pioneer in the first place... receiver depth. The Sony is 14" deep and barely fits, A new receiver will mean having to have a place to actually put it.

I agree, while the AA is a decent sub, having a better sub plus a second sub will round out the bass in my room and less directional.
I still want a Marantz receiver but I see now that I wont really have a place to put it unless I put it on the top of my AV rack.
I was listening to the Yamahas the other day and liked their sound a lot too, but it seemed that my 920 is louder then the 1065 I was listening too in BB. The room I was in BB is about the same as my living room. At -18, -12, and -9 db, it seemed that my Sony played louder.... Really, is my $600 Sony better then the $900 Yamaha? Are receiver amps just getting worse? And the Yamaha was better sounding then Denon overall.

Thing is that I am not sure if I will have $400 or $1000, If I could get $1000 and sell my Sony(300-350), then I would do all 3 at once. Perhaps find a refurb Marantz at accessories4less $450, eD Sub $350 and then $300-350 for a new TV stand/audio rack...

But I am thinking... if I only get $400 what should my priority be? I think sub is what I was thinkg and it seems as if you guys are confirming that too.

I'd say sub. Get the eD. Then obviously, stand - I assume you know about standsandmounts.com and racksandstands.com - then your receiver with pre-outs. The entry level Marantz 4003 or 5003 should suit your needs.

Thanks JJ, I think that is my priority too. Get a really nice, good sub. I do think that is one of my weaker HT areas at the moment.

I was considering SVS too, but as I was looking at them, they want more money for the same thing and also to charge for shipping... So I am leaning towards the eD now... Really I did some measuring and its not that big, cabinet size, but it weighs enough.....

Not that the AA is bad, but I can say that it would not be comparable to the eD.

I think so too. Art Vandellay has both and says that the AA is not bad and can carry itself for a $150 sub, but that there is a noticeable worthwhile difference with his eD sub. But as a second sub, the AA is nice to have...

So I think I will like having a better sub added to the mix.

Ok, so talked to wife. She thinks we are gonna get enough back from this settlement check and taxes to get everything we need done and enough for me to get something. Were remodeling the front bathroom, getting twin beds for the girls, a crib, and a new mattress.

Sooooo, I showed her the eD sub on their website, and she was like, wow that looks really nice, classy looking. She then asked where I wanted to put it. She asked how big it was, I told her and she was like, OK a little bigger then that one, but about the same... I said, yea a few inches bigger all the way around, it will still go in the corner the old one is in and then the old one will go over near the door.

She totally agreed and likes the idea..

Looks like I will be getting a new sub in about 2 months. Settlement check comes in feb. and taxes usually around mid-march.
