I think that depends on the Dr..... my wife Dr clipped the cord, then pushed the blood back towards the placenta, and then clipped it again, then I cut between then and there was NO MESS...... Like I said, calimari

hey chris,

I do have to admit, the first child, the Dr just cut the umbilical cord, and blood sprayed everywhere, actually right onto my face and on my lip.... no I didn't know what happened, and yes, I licked my lip..... then realized as I wiped my face that there was droplets of blood all over me..... I was so grossed out.

Chris, is this your first baby?

Morrissey 07-29-2010 11:30 AM

OMG callas...blood in the face, additional hair down there, like Calamari...:faint: that's it, I'm leaving the country!

:rotfl: how's mom and baby doing today? How much time are you planning to take off to stay home and be with the baby?

Yes it's my first baby.

Hey Chris.....callas is right, as it may depend on the doctor....don't forget, I had both of my children thru natural child birth at home with a midwife....that is a good bit different than at a hospital.

We had special sheets on the bed, as that is where my daughter was born. After the birth, in the trash they went. It was pretty easy to clean. However, my wife was in labor only 20 minutes with my son (yes, 20 minutes and I couldn't get home in time for seeing the birth of him....which I work only 3 miles from work...it was due to the parking garage being backed up at the time I was trying to get home.) My son was actually born in the bathroom as my wife literally didn't have enough time to get back into the bed before he "dropped" out. Believe me, it was so fast that the midwife actually "caught" him, it was that fast. But I did get home in time to cut the cord. However, the bathroom and how it looked was not a plesant sight to say the least.

Fors* 07-29-2010 11:56 AM

By the way, I hope everyone is home, happy and healthy callas!!

Yes it's my first baby.

I will go back to work next wednesday, so effectively 1 full week off. Im hoping to keep the other 2 weeks of my vacation time so that I can use the money to buy an Anthem MRX500 AVR..... then hopefully I can use some tax money to get a new TV stand and Dynaudio speakers.... or perhaps Totems if I cannot get the ones I want at the price I want.

Mom and the baby are doing great, my 2 daughters, Jillian(6) and Meeghan(3), have been the biggest helpers since we got home yesterday. Jill is holding him now while mom is sleeping....

Chris are you having a boy or a girl?

geez john....I guess it would be less costly having him at home.... buy Im sure there is challenges with that also... that is crazy he came that quickly. my wife only pushed for 20 minutes also... 5 sets of 3, and he was out.....

ur story reminds me of my first yr in college, we had a party at the frat house and a girl locked her self in the bathroom of one of the guys room, and when we broke in she had pooped all over herself and the floor and toilet and had put her hands in it so it was all over the sink and cabinet and walls..... Im GLAD I wasn't the pledge that had to clean that mess up....

Glad to hear that the girls are helping out so much. I think I'll take only week off as well. Ah...the Anthem MRX500, 3D ready as well.

well 4 ohm stable according to the tech support person at Anthem, that was the first and most important to me... otherwise it will be the NAD 765 b-stock, I think I can get it for $1500ish....that saves about $1000, nice thing is its modular and can be update and never go out of date.......

OMFG A bathroom from The Shining. I don't know why I check in on the threads anymore. This will give me nightmares.

Talking about food that I cannot get here is one thing, glad that has not been a topic lately, other than franks and beans. Cannot buy baked beans here or molasses so cannot even cook them. This baby talk is another matter. :ohnoes:

No idea. Wife has to take a month, and wash in rice wine and some other strange Chinese traditions for the month also. We have a school to run, so we will see how much I can get away and if I can find a sub for my classes.

Not sure what I will be able to do in the first month. You guys?

Daughters must be so happy to have a baby brother. The help must be appreciated by all. For them, I imagine it is a big thrill.

My daughter would squeeze the boy out of consciousness from hugging him so much, she just loves him to death and he doesn't seem to mind being hugged so hard and often, so he must love her too? :)

The law here is employers must give the husband 3 days off with pay when baby arrives. Sucks, now I am the employer. I guess I can give myself time off with pay.

Yep, just moving cash from my left pocket to my right pocket. But it is about principal.:D And once it is in my right pocket, it can be spent on Blu-rays.

Almost 12:30am here, time for bed. I'll check in tomorrow for more baby stories. Like car crashes, don't want to look, just can't help it.

Did they say if the Anthem receivers will be using a toroidal transformer like the Anthem amps, or a laminated core transformer like most other receivers?

No I didn't ask that, they weren't gonna give out too much info until the official specs were released. He actually put me on hold and then came back to tell me that they were 4 ohm stable. Im not sure if he didn't know or if he had to check to get approval to say.... but it seemed as if he knew more then he would tell me.

if you get a chance to call yourself and ask, let me know, that would be awesome.

I e-mailed the question yesterday, here's their reply:

MRX900 is still TBD.
MRX700 will have a toroidal
MRX500/300 will have laminated core.

Based on the Cambridge Audio Azur 650R AVR review in this month's issue of Home Theater magazine, a toroidal power supply transformer in a receiver elevates performance closer to separates.

hey Zippo...

are you familiar with cambridge audio? how do they sound to you?

The price of the Azur 650 is $1750 list, which is closer to the MRX 700, so I wonder if its price associative.

Thanks for looking that up for me. Are you looking for a new new receiver also?
