Thanks Oliver.

There was a time when I was so jealous of you for getting yours so quickly, but I was always happy that you were able to get the Rainmakers, but I wanted to be a part of the party and felt left out LOL. It made me want the Excites even more.

I listened to about 3 hours of music today which is more then normal. But I had football to watch and I watched Sherlock Holmes tonight also..

BTW, I am updating my pics, let me know what you think

HEHE notice you took that dust off your furniture but the first pic is not all that great, it looks blurry a little bit and the other 2 pics the X16 look amazing and sure sound just as good. Maybe not as good as what I experienced with the X32 on the Simaudio 3.3 and certainly not as good as what you heard in store yet but it sure will come with the future upgrades. :D

Even my Rainmakers suprise me even more when I get to listen to them on some nice IA such as Naim, Arcam and Prima Luna.

does the X32 weigh that much, I helped the dealer move them the other day befor picking up my X16, and I didn't think there was that much of a difference... I was so surprised by the weight of the X16s... BUT I was pulling it out of the box a little above shoulder level where as the X32 was on the floor... so perhaps that is why the X16 felt like it weighed so much.

Wow, I knew the Sttaf was small... I could tell the X32 was bigger then the staff height wise, but thought they looked about the same width. The X32 was next to the X36 also, so that may have been why I thought it looked so small. The X36 looks like a bigger speaker. Ive only seen the Ikon 7 tower. So cannot compare

Johnny Vinyl 11-29-2010 04:16 PM

Trust me Steve..the Sttaf's are small for a full-size floorstander, especially when you have them next to other comparable speakers, but don't let their size fool you. ;):)

Oh, yeah, I know that. I like the Sttafs a lot as a speaker. Very good bass they produce, and everything else.

John

I did not get fooled by diminutive size of the Ikon 5 half an inch shorter than the Sttaf using 2x 5 inch drivers but hell it sounded nice, now would I choose it in front of the Sttaf, the answer is no but let's just say it's a subjective choice and it's only my prerference.

BigAl87 11-29-2010 11:18 PM

So Steve I hope you listen to some more music tonight, if I'm not mistaken you have no break in to do since the process had been done in store. :D

I finally got to listen to the Music Hall 2.2 but I did not have a great recording, I had and old print of an older Santana album, still sounded good but not great, i will get myself Brothers in arms on the weekend and listen on the P1 on the Naim Nait 5i and then I will take the same record and listen to it on the A38 on the MH 2.2.

Ok the A38 is a slighly better amp but I'll have idea vs my SACD.

Listening to Unplugged in New York :D Sweet mother  I did the mistake to listen so more of Model One :jawdrop:

Might watch Sherlock Holmes too tonight  Man Polly is good :D

I listened to a little of the Unplugged album some more tonight when I first got home. I then turned on the NFL game... My Niners are playing. After this I think I am roped into playing The Incredibles, my 3 yr old is being relentless. I may try after that to turn on my Mojo album on BD-Audio.

I wouldn't mind listening to the Model Ones, but I probably won't get the chance.

Polly is a great song. I like that album a lot. I think I have played it enough to wear out my wife tho. She has been more into the 70s music. And of course the sub-pop music that is out right now.

Sherlock is a great movie. I like it. I cannot wait to put on another movie and crank it. :D

OH,

The music hall 2.2, I think you would like it. Really the reason I went with the Pro-ject is because the sale and all the reviews I have read.

Really they are all about the same in terms of Entry Level TTs. I think if I went back and had the extra money I would have got the Pro-ject 1.3 or Rega P2 since they can be modified, I believe.

well the B stocks are all sold out numbfart. so you would have to buy new, and 2 cost $674, 3 costs $999

Actually, I really think I may have to go that route one day.... I am so glad you showed me that.

Watching The Incredibles with the 3 yr old.... I love my new speakers, when Mr Incredible throws the boss thru the walls in the office you can hear all the walls break before he comes thru the last wall.... AWESOME!

There's a website called audiogon, and they sell used ones for like $225 each, but your dial up network is so slow(not as slow as you though) that you can't open more than 1 window, so you can't surf there and be at bd.com at the same time.

You're welcome for me recommending the Mini mono blocks to you, BTW! You have learned from the best:cool:

Congratulations on finally getting the Excites Steve! Been listening to a lot more music since you set them up? :D

If you are ever going to get a power amp go with the mono's, even doing the front three with those is a bigger upgrade than a 125wpc amp IMO. You'll love those Dyn's even more with some monoblocks.

Prima Luna Prologue Seven Monoblock sold in pair are 70wpc into 8 ohms but let's put it this way they are extremly dynamic and gives a crap load of low end.

I swear Andrew it's just about numbers. You know that. I am sceptical myself sometimes but you have hear an amp to judge wheter it has the proper headroom and output for you.

I know you love LOUD :D:D:D

I know that numbers can be deceiving but given the chose between the two Outlaw amps I would go with the mono's. As you know I've tried a couple of multi channel amps and I think monoblocks are a better upgrade. If Steve gets the Intergra it will handle the surrounds no problem. I've found the monoblocks to have an even lower noise and are more detailed than the multi channel amps I've tried. Right now I'm using my two in my two channel system until the others arrive and for music they're awesome, more detailed than anything else I've tried yet.

How are the rc-50s treating you. Nice speakers I bet. Keep your eye out for the RCLCR, they are getting far and few now-a-days

I remember a few years ago when the Outlaw monoblocks were SUPER hot on the Polk forums and some AVS forums. I think Outlaw lost some of their spunk when their Pre/pro deployments had issues. First they announced one, then they did an Onkyo, then I think... nothing. I haven't followed this in a while, but that is what I remembered.

I was considering the Outlaws at one point (as recent as last year when I got my B&W's) due to their compactness. I obviously ended up with the Emo monoblocks in the end, but they are still decent Class D amps.

Yeah, when that time comes, i will most certianly be looking at getting the monos for the price over the 7 channel amp. I think one it will look better with the 3 stacks then a beastly looking unit. And it gives me more power, which I think the Dyns will like. I can tell with the sony, that the dyns are begging me to feed them.... the sony doesn't over heat or anything, and it gets loud, but I know I can push these guys a lot more. I think the Integra will give them more of what they want, but eventually I'll need to get amps... and when I do I like the looks of the mini monos.

I love how we all rationalize that we NEED these things, rather than just WANT them. We're all guilty of it. That being said you'll love feeding your Dyn's more power, it will put an even bigger smile on your face.:D It's the same with my Pioneer and the 100's, it will get loud but you can tell the speakers have a lot more potential.

True that the Arcam A28 has plenty of drive at 4 ohms load so I can't wait to try that :D even if it's an IA I think it will do great. Totem now recommend all of their speakers with a 30 watts + no limit at the top to power their speakers :D Some of them up to 100 watts+

The 50s are fantastic, however, like the Dyns, I can tell they want more than the 605 can provide. At my listening levels, not on the power side, but when I demoed them they were more detailed. I'm trying to decide the best upgrade path for myself right now.

As to the center, my g/f has all but told me she is going to get me the RC-30 that I want. So that's one less thing I have to get.

Dude, the RC-30 would be an awesome center channel.... I wish I had the room to put another X16 as a center... I think it would still just be too tall even if I got a different TV stand, one where the TV is mounted up high.... It would cost the same as the center channel.
