I found this today which is kind of cool, they do Integra's too. I've been told that the member NaturePhoto knows these guys personally and it's the real deal.

I do not want to stir the pot on this issue or get into a debate, but yes, I probably have more gear than anyone else that has been upgraded by David in the US. I just recently got my Onkyo 885 (first generation Onkyo Pre/Pro) back with the latest upgrades. Yes the audio and even the video has improved. It may not have the latest and greatest and I do not need all of the newest bells and whistles. It has all of the Codecs and has a larger power supply than the more current units which is an advantage. In any case the upgraded machine is far superior to the performance of stock and just about any other stock Pre/Pro and is better than many expensive 2 channel Preamps. I also know David quite well and I just received a 2nd pair of the new TimePortal silver IC cables today to use and demo with the first pair that David has sent to me. I expect to keep both pair. The first pair is remarkable (but more expensive than most on this forum would consider). Rich |

Rich, thanks for the post also, I know you have used Dave a few times also. I may not post in your thread all the time, but I do read it/Lurk.... :) So today a convo with my dealer he will sell me his 7.9 A-stock receiver for cost since I told him I was interested in the 6.9/7.9 refurb, basically, it would be about the same price as the refurb, and have a 3 yr warranty. While there I got to hear the Wilson Audio MAXX 3s play Inception... that was a treat. they do sound pretty good. Not sure how they are worth that much money tho... I think they are around $200k per pair. they were pretty smooth and had the ability to produce a lot of bass, but were very subtle in their presentation at the same time. I struggle to imagine why you would pay that much for speakers. Also heard the Dyn C1s and 110As today. I love the C1s. The Focus line is quickly growing on me too...if I had had a receiver and amp already, and not a Sony AVR, I think I may be still paying off a pair Focus 140s. However the Excites are thankfully an awesome speaker as well, they just miss a little of that bottom octave that the Focus' have |

watching Princess and the Frog with my 3 yr old daughter, the 6 yr old is sick, so the Meeghan is sleeping out on the couch tonight to stay out of the room and keep from getting sick, I have to say the music is pretty good on this movie. Lots of horns and acoustic string instruments. Pretty good.

I actually like the sound of the Excites more then the 3.4s.... the 3.4s are very good, but a little too linear and slightly underwhelming, in a sense.. hard to say that about such a good speaker, but the Excites have a little more chunkiness to the sound that makes them a more "exciting" speaker, IMO. Remember that the Excites use the older Esotec tweeter from the previous Contour line, so they have a really nice tweeter also. You know what.... you should move! |
