Nothing yet. Awaiting word on guy on Sapphires. He said he'd be interested in a trade recently but is weighing it over. My 3.4s haven't sold yet so that would be huge if he could do that. This deal doesn't work out I'll probably trade my 3.4s for C1's with Tyler in Chicago.

She knits. Her and her friends sit around the fireplace drinking wine, knitting, and gossip. All in due time? Hell if I know. Ridiculous what she puts up with.

I watched Red. Contemplating what movie I'll watch next.

women will tolerate a lot of stuff. Too bad for her, I think you would make her more happy, but hey... theres always another pretty face and a tight ass... right!

How is RED, to me it looks kinda dumb.

how much of a trade-in will he give you? Does he have some trade-in C1s? or brand new?

I take it about $3000-3500 for trade-in and then $7k for the C1s?

have you been able to hear anyother dyns yet?

No. Not in this case. As long as she is miserable and fighting a lot with this guy and him acting like he does I won't accept/tolerate them. Especially knowing how she feels about me and the fact there wouldn't be those 2 dating if it wasn't for my stupidity. It's a bitter pill that I refuse to swallow.

RED is alright. Seen it twice. Decent popcorn flick.

Nope. Told the C1's are similar to the 3.4s only better in detail all around. So that being a blind buy would be a no brainer for me. Except I'd probably deliver the 3.4s to Chicago myself so I'd hear everything Tyler has. He has demo gloss cherry C1's that I thought was gloss rosewood that I wouldn't mind having. You are in the ballpark on trade in deal. Who knows what will develop. I might just keep the 3.4s. Rhett bugging me nonstop for days was giving me a headache to the point I didn't care.

My wife is a registered nurse and in they're union contract there's a provision for a position called weekend worker. It's a full time position, every Fri, Sat and Sun nights ( every third Sun off ) she gets paid a full 40hr per week salary for working 36hrs. I don't know if it works like that in the US but it's something to look into. If she does that you will be buying more stuff, the hospital pays well.

yeah, the C1 are similar to the 3.4s, but they are smoother and have added mid-range, they can get pretty deep depending on the source, your speakers may have a little more bass, IDK for sure, I didn't hear yours playing the same music, but the C1s had some music that had a stand up bass that played deep and it sounded deep. The Esotar2 tweeter is definetly a step up tho.

Seriously tho, I can't believe you are not at least considering the S25s.

we were thinking she could get into Admin, cause that is what her previous jobs were. But yeah, and RN position like that would be really cool too.

Speakers that look strictly like a box don't interest me. The special 25's I'm sure I would like but I just don't find them visually appealing. It has to look good and sound good in my speaker selection.

I found this today which is kind of cool, they do Integra's too. I've been told that the member NaturePhoto knows these guys personally and it's the real deal.

Hi Guys,

I do not want to stir the pot on this issue or get into a debate, but yes, I probably have more gear than anyone else that has been upgraded by David in the US. I just recently got my Onkyo 885 (first generation Onkyo Pre/Pro) back with the latest upgrades. Yes the audio and even the video has improved. It may not have the latest and greatest and I do not need all of the newest bells and whistles. It has all of the Codecs and has a larger power supply than the more current units which is an advantage. In any case the upgraded machine is far superior to the performance of stock and just about any other stock Pre/Pro and is better than many expensive 2 channel Preamps.

I also know David quite well and I just received a 2nd pair of the new TimePortal silver IC cables today to use and demo with the first pair that David has sent to me. I expect to keep both pair. The first pair is remarkable (but more expensive than most on this forum would consider).

Rich

very interesting. Thanks Aces.

Rich, thanks for the post also, I know you have used Dave a few times also. I may not post in your thread all the time, but I do read it/Lurk.... :)

So today a convo with my dealer he will sell me his 7.9 A-stock receiver for cost since I told him I was interested in the 6.9/7.9 refurb, basically, it would be about the same price as the refurb, and have a 3 yr warranty.

While there I got to hear the Wilson Audio MAXX 3s play Inception... that was a treat. they do sound pretty good. Not sure how they are worth that much money tho... I think they are around $200k per pair. they were pretty smooth and had the ability to produce a lot of bass, but were very subtle in their presentation at the same time. I struggle to imagine why you would pay that much for speakers.

Also heard the Dyn C1s and 110As today. I love the C1s. The Focus line is quickly growing on me too...if I had had a receiver and amp already, and not a Sony AVR, I think I may be still paying off a pair Focus 140s. However the Excites are thankfully an awesome speaker as well, they just miss a little of that bottom octave that the Focus' have

That's good to hear about the receiver, what's the price difference between the Focus and the Excites?

So the guy on Sapphires didn't initially want to trade for my 3.4s. Then he thought he might be able to find use for them. He doesn't really in his small condo so doesn't look like he will trade (unless he wants to sell them himself). Good news that I got a guy who would have bought them now but he was concerned on imaging. That due to the speakers being too close at the dealer. He goes back Tuesday and will tell me then as he will have his mind made up. I gave him spacing and power source suggestions also. So hopefully that falls thru. Let's hope a few other things sell in that time. I need another $1000 to make Sapphires a reality if I want to get them next weekend. They guy moved to Florida from St. Louis recently and is storing them at his friend's place. The next time he will be in St. Louis after that is mid-March:mad:.

the focus and excites are kind of competing lines, they are priced almost the same...

Excite X12- $1200, X16 -$1600, X22C - $850, X32 - $2800, X36 - $3600

Focus 110 - $1600, 140 - $2100, 110A - $2450, 200C - $1200, 220 - $3600, 360 - $7000

well almost until yoiu get to the Focus 360

watching Princess and the Frog with my 3 yr old daughter, the 6 yr old is sick, so the Meeghan is sleeping out on the couch tonight to stay out of the room and keep from getting sick, I have to say the music is pretty good on this movie. Lots of horns and acoustic string instruments. Pretty good.

A very good film, sure someday I'll have all the Disney films on BD for my daughter, and me too. My favorite animated Disney film is The Little Mermaid.

Umm... NO!

I actually like the sound of the Excites more then the 3.4s.... the 3.4s are very good, but a little too linear and slightly underwhelming, in a sense.. hard to say that about such a good speaker, but the Excites have a little more chunkiness to the sound that makes them a more "exciting" speaker, IMO. Remember that the Excites use the older Esotec tweeter from the previous Contour line, so they have a really nice tweeter also.

You know what.... you should move!
