What is your take on the review of the Anthem receiver in HTM Steve? It sounds like you've read it, I haven't yet.

You would have found it yourself anyway but thanks. I read that your going to get another pair of Rainmakers later this year, which surround speakers are you going to use those for, sides or backs?

For now will be side but when I have my dedicated room in my future hous i will certainly use Lynks as my side Surrounds.

I have made up my mind not to get settle for dreamcatcher altho they would make amazing surrounds I will keep it all the same except for the Di/Bi pole.

To be honest, it seems like they are very fond of the sound quality of the Anthem. The guy doing the review had Revel Salons speakers and he said they were driven with dynamics typically found in seperates. Seems like it would be a pretty nice little receiver. ARC sounds pretty cool as well. It does seem to lack a few features and extras that the newer receivers have in that price range, but they said if you dont need them and want Audiophile sound, visit your local Anthem dealer.

Listening to it now.... OMG, this is the quietest LP that I have owned, the blackness of the background noise in incredible. Its as quiet as a CD and has the life of vinyl, man I am loving this record.

AC DC begs to be cranked, just wait until you have some better power behind those Dyn's.

yeah, I can't wait to have a new receiver. When i first got home, my wife went out for a little bit, and I put this on and turned it up to about -15 dbs, and my oldest daughter was rocking out with me and the baby. My wife walked in and was like turn that White Trash music down.... shes not a fan.... figures she wants Katy Perry and Rhianna.... I have yet to buy those CDs... I wonder why.

White trash? Come on now, it's awesome. My wife and daughter have all those kinds of cds, it's so compressed and has such bad SQ that listening to it on a crappy system actually makes it sound better.

Yeah, I am not a big fan of that music in general, but whatever mostly itll stay in her car.... so that spares me. She made a comment about next Ill buy Metallica, and I laughed, I want the Black album on 45 rpm records, she just laughed at me. Ill get it, but not looking forward to spending $55 on it. She cant understand how Ill listen to Norah Jones and then AC/DC, but IMO, I just like good music, so I go with whatever I like and what strikes the mood.

Hammie 02-09-2011 11:34 AM

My wife enjoys Katy Perry's songs, so I threw out the question "If you had to listen to the same musical group for 24 hours straight, would you choose Katy Perry or AC/DC?" She answered AC/DC hands down. That's my girl!!!

I put polyfil in my sub, it sounds tighter and better. I am watching IM2 ATM to test it out. It sounds deeper and fuller, I have even turned up the gain a little and it still sounds incredible. I really wasn't sure that I would hear the difference that everyone else talks about, but its there. Happy I did it.

Nothing just racking up some OT hours so I take days off instead of being paid.

callas01 02-10-2011 03:14 PM

I posted this in the eD thread, but thought that some of you don't read over there so here is what i put and my experience with my sub.

last night I added polyfill to my sub, I kept getting a rattling sound from the sub during Inception and on the Ironhide flip. It was bugging me non-stop. I wasn't expecting it to really change that much, but it did become tighter sounding, and deeper and felt a little fuller, I think this is more of the sound that I enjoy. I didn't really get to mess with it too much because by the time I was done it was getting late and with the baby sleeping. I tested IM2 a little at lower volumes and then I put in Hurt Locker, the opening scene. IM2 sounded great, the thrust bursts during the Fireworks, the whipping of the ionized whips at the race in monoco, very full sounding. With Hurt Locker, I turned it up to get the initial sense of the that deep low, but the explosion was too loud so I had to turn it down and didn't get the full effect, the deep low, where the rocks fly up and the rust comes off the car, sounded awesome. I never experienced the rattle that I had before. The only other thing I did was move one of the wires so it wasn't bent up, Matt(eD) had suggested that perhaps the rattle was from a wire or pushing the sub too hard, I doubt I pushed it too hard, at -7.5 dbs on my receiver and with the subs gain pointed at the green light.... I don't want a HOT bass sound, I want to blending perfectly so the sound of the bass comes from the middle of the room, not from my right.

Tonight i am gonna play with it some more and see how it behaves, but so far, Im very much pleased, Ill put on Inception and Transformers, then Ill do the Hurt Locker scene again.

I hope everyone is healthy now in your household Steve.....both of my kids were sick last weekend, so I'm looking forward to a more "normal" weekend.

callas01 02-11-2011 04:45 PM

So retested the sub with the polyfill and put in Hurt Locker, Transformers, and Inception, with Hurt Locker, it was deep but never rattled, sound was excellent, it did cause my glass table to rattle a little tho, but not the sub, The Ironhide flip, was perfect deep and continuous and full. Inception the part at the cafe where everything blows up, there were so many of those explosions and they were handled with precision and umph. I was very happy with the sub the way it sounded and didn't get any of the rattle this time.

jill will be 7 in 3 months, Meg will be 4 in a month, and the baby is 6 months. Most think that Meg should be in Kindergarten because she is so smart and has an expansive vocab(sometimes too much, know what i mean, words that don't need to be repeated) because she is with the older kids outside all the time, they range from 1st to 6th grade. She counts and reads.

So you basically have what will be your oldest daughter being "boy crazy" eventually, your younger daughter being the "book worm" and your son, who will be the "typical boy" is that what you are saying, LOL!
