TNG won't be released on Blu-ray in 16x9, so the only source is some broadcast service, which will, most likely, have obnoxicons and possibly ads. A service like iTunes would be a better option as well... But as far as I know iTunes is still just 720p, isn't it? I assume that won't last forever, but until they have 1080p video, I don't even consider it an option...

WEB-DLs come primarily from iTunes, they never come from DVDs or BDs (those rips are marked as such). So, if TNG was ever put out on iTunes, you could buy the episodes there and have them without adverts, on-screen graphics, etc. although only in 720p currently.

True, the BDs will be the best quality. But WEB-DL is likely to be the best quality available for the eventual 16:9 versions!
