Default Park Chan-Wook's Vengeance Trilogy Blu-ray release

So, apparently Park Chan-Wook's Revenge Trilogy is getting a new DVD release this November. Does anyone know if there will be a blu-ray release as well? I can't find any info on that.

Apparently this release of the films will include the "Fade to White" version of Lady Vengeance. In this version of the film the movie slowly fades from color to black and white as the film progresses and that is how Park originally intended the film to be seen. I would love to see it that way but I don't want to replace my current DVDs unless I am replacing them with Blu-rays.

If anyone knows any info I'd be grateful.

I just got this information from Palisades-Tartan regarding their US Blu-ray Disc release of Chan-wook Park's Vengeance Trilogy:

Quote:
The Vengeance Trilogy DVD set has a wide release in March but the Blu-ray set being released on March 16th is only a Best Buy exclusive. It will come in a limited edition tin (also exclusive to Best Buy while they last). The wide release going to all retailers is June 15th and will have the normal slipcase packaging.

Default The Vengeance Trilogy

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Oldboy
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance

Palisades-Tartan has finally announced a proper date for their US Blu-ray Disc release of Chan-wook Park's Vengeance Trilogy. The eight-disc set with Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, OldBoy and (Sympathy for) Lady Vengeance will be released on March 16, 2010 and will include the following bonus features:

Rick Stelow from Palisades-Tartan informed me that the Vengeance Trilogy Box being released on March 16th will only be available at Best Buy. This exclusive will also be available in a limited edition tin package. Other retailers will be able to offer the trilogy in a normal slipcase packaging starting June 15th.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance:
- Audio commentary by Park Chan-Wook and actor Ryoo Seung-wan
- Behind the scenes
- The Process of Mr. Vengeance
- My Boksu Story, Storyboards
- Photo Gallery
- Filmographies
- Film notes
- Crew Interviews

Oldboy:
- Three audio commentaries
- Five behind-the-scenes featurettes
- Le Grand Prix at Cannes
- Deleted scenes with commentary

Lady Vengeance:
- Regular and Fade-To-White versions
- Character Interviews
- Lady Vengeance at the 62nd Venice Film Festival
- Trailer
- Film notes
- Making of
- Deleted scenes

I also received this email when asking about the transfers and audio specs:

"I do not believe that the Oldboy Blu-ray has a new transfer, I would imagine we used the same transfer that was used on the prior Blu-ray, but I could be wrong because we had to re-author the Blu-ray for the additional features so they may have done a new transfer at that point, but I am sure it would have been from the same source material we had before. The other releases are new transfers because this was the first time we did high def transfers for them.

Oldboy has the same Audio Specs as the older Tartan Blu-ray with Korean master audio and the English dub available as well. I was told the other 2 are only in DTS-HD 5.1,

You will only be able to order from Amazon on June 15th, but it will be on Bestbuy.com March 15th."

What is the general consensus for the existing Oldboy disc? Is the PQ ok?

I'm wondering what extras will be left off, as so far, the UK Blurays left off some extras from the existing DVDs, and from what is written above, the commentaries for Lady Vengeance, the super-long Oldboy documentary etc are not mentioned.

If the price is still right at that time, I might have to spring for this set...

I can't decide if im going to buy this at Best Buy or wait and see if Amazon has it for cheaper in June.

This will be my fourth copy of Oldboy I own. I own the regular DVD version, the special edition DVD version with the metal case and I just bought the Tartan Asia Extreme blu-ray a few months ago before I heard about this box set.

Oh I forgot, for some reason I have a UMD of Oldboy as well (dont recall how I got it), so I guess fifth copy lol.

I own the other 2 on dvd as well.

Im really happy that were finally getting the fade to white version of Lady Vengeance. I just hope the PQ is good

Just got mine as well and price matched Walmart.com for $39.86. This has been the hardest Blu-ray purchase to track down for me. I went way out of my way to get it today at a Best Buy that had three available. When I got home and looked on Best Buy's site, I saw that the store right next to me now has it available for store pickup. I should have just checked the store instead of relying on employees and the website.

Anyway, like others have said, an employee found it in the back and brought it out. He brought out all three and I picked up the best looking one, which is pretty much in perfect condition. Definitely look through them all as the tins are very susceptible to dents and scratches.
