I figured after all the Discussion and Great Deals coming outta Britain at the moment, many might find this beneficial. Rules to this thread

• Merchant must ship to USA
• Only post Region Free titles, so that question isn't asked every post
• Amazon posts daily and shipping to USA is usually 5-7 days
• All currency is in £(GBP)*

*For currency conversion, use www.xe.com . Remember to add 3% for conversion fees charged by Visa. Amex is around 2.7%



What You Need to Know About Region-Free Blu-ray discs:

1. All Region-Free Blu-ray discs will play on your PS3/SA unless:

a) The Region-Free content is encoded in 1080/50i
b) The disc has forced PAL or 1080/50i content (trailers/ads), which will prevent you prevents you from getting to the main menu.
c) The actual disc menu is encoded in PAL or 1080/50i (Zatoichi).

2. All supplemental features will play on your PS3/SA unless:

a) They are encoded in PAL (576i)
b) They are encoded in 1080/50i.

All supplemental features will play on your PS3/SA if they are encoded in 480/60i, 720p, 1080/60i, and 1080p.

3. Blu-ray discs cannot be PAL or NTSC because PAL and NTSC equate standard-definition (different format). Blu-ray is a high-definition format. With other words, you cannot have content that is both standard-definition and high-definition at the same time. It is either one or the other.

4. Last but not least:

a) Most European majors (WB, Sony Pictures, Fox, Universal, Paramount, Studio Canal) typically encode their supplemental features in 480/60i (NTSC), or when possible 1080p, which means that they are perfectly playable on U.S. PS3/SAs.

b) Most independent European distributors (Optimum Home Entertainment, TF1, Park Circus, Arrow Films, EuropaCorp, etc.) typically encode their supplemental features in 576i (PAL), which means that they are not playable on U.S. PS3/SAs.

c) A recent trend amongst many independent UK distributors (Artificial Eye, MOC, BFI, etc) is to encode their supplemental features in 480/60i, 720p, or 1080i/1080p so that they can be accessed by North American customers.

Amazon UK has now dropped the four film set another £9 to £24.95 which makes it a steal for four films. I own this set and all are solid releases with great PQ and AQ so definitely worth the purchase!

True enough but it doesn't have the UK Mission Impossible set, only the Australian one at present. That site is great but does lag on occassion. That is why the updates on coding here can be so helpful.

Region-free, as it is from Warner. But it is identical to the U.S. BD and likely to come down in price as a slow-selling catalog title.

Anybody know if the UK 12 Monkeys is region free? I couldn't find it on the Region coding website that is linked in this forum. This site says region B (but A and C untested) but aren't most Universal's free? I would like to get this with Almost Famous in Amazon.uk's 2 for 15 deal. Thanks.
