Default Oh my...that's not good.

So I have been enjoying my HTIB for a while now, but unfortunately something bad happened a couple days ago.

I was re-arranging the front room, and one of my wires to my left surround speaker cut almost clean in half.

Am I screwed? I have next to no experience with anything cord/wire related, sorry if it's a dumb question.

I doubt it matters, but I have the Sony SS360.

ANY help would be appreciated.
If you need/want the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince slipcover, I'll give you mine for free. Excellent condition, all you have to do is send me the envelope and postage and you can have it. Can provide pics on request.

No big deal. Just measure how long the speaker cable is...go to Home Depot...and buy the same length speaker wire off of the spindle's. Go home and switch them out. That's the quickest, cheapest, fastest way to do it. Hope that helped.

I was told by someone Sony HTIB ones have a proprietary connection that prevents that.....is that true?

Not as far as i know! My first home theater was a Sony HTIB and it had regular gray speaker wire. Just two seperate copper wires in one wrapping...one for the negative connection (Black) and one for the positive connection (Red). Does your wire look like this?

Looking at the instruction manual, it does look like your speakers do have the proprietary connection at the receiver end.

But not all is lost, I would first contact SONY and see if they would send you a replacement.

If not, then look into ebay or somewhere to see if anyone is selling a single speaker? or even the whole package?

Last but not least, if you know anyone good with wires and soldering, perhaps you can have them fix it for you?

And if you're super desperate, peel back the plastic wire cover at the cut ends and just match positive (+) to positive (+) and negative (-) to negative (-), twist them together, don't let the + & - touch each other and cover with some electrical tape.

This.

Unplug the htib and then repair the break. If it's nearly cut... so much so that a connection is broken... you have to cut it fully. You can likely get some electrical caps that twist on and remake the connection for you. The caps go by wire size or gauge. Take part of it to Home Depot and they can determine the gauge and sell you the caps. Should be a dollar or two.
