Default Cannibal Holocaust - US Release 2012

http://fangoria.com/index.php?option...ews&Itemid=167

It's being released by Grindhouse Releasing, which will include brand new supplements. They hope to have it out by early 2012.

Been waiting for this one. Definitely a sick, disturbing movie, but fascinating none the less.

hopefully they'll have both the uncut and the animal cruelty free version. I remember when I watched it, I though it look fake. I didn't learn until years after that it was real animals.

Even the ACFV I will not buy. I am not sure why this film is considered a "masterpiece", it's like calling a snuff film brilliant?

I don't consider it a masterpiece. But I do feel it is a very interesting film (aside from the animal stuff, which I must make clear I find disgusting, disturbing, and wrong)

Sure it's disgusting and horrifying, but it is a classic within the horror genre and one of the most successful trailblazers of cinema vérité style. Plus, though heavy handed, provides an interesting analysis of the modern role of anthropological documentation (At what points do we immerse ourselves into our research). Do you also shy way from from classics with animal cruelty like Pink Flamingos and Apocalypse Now?

As a longtime horror fan, I cannot wait to add this to my collection (Was gonna get the region-free, mildly cut UK version, but happily read this news today and shall wait)

Wait, so you are saying that killing innocent animals that have done NOTHING wrong for just entertainment is OK with you?

I'm not saying I enjoy watching it, but it is intrinsic to the history and controversy of the film.

What??

Just because the film is controversial doesn't mean it is alright to kill animals for entertainment.

But everyone to their own.

I have the 2-disc DVD. An interesting movie, a real shocker, but not one I can watch many times. I believe the animals killed were eaten by the cast and crew. I still frown upon putting that kind of thing in a film, but I would feel like a bit of a hypocrite complaining about it too much. The slaughterhouses that kill animals for our meat everyday are not much better.

I've heard about this so much from the horror community and never seen it. I've seen Eli Roth both mention and wear shirts of this.

With Halloween coming up I just found out about this movie and watched it. I'm not sure how this movie is 'horror', as it really didn't seem all that scary. It disgusted me, but didn't frighten me. Definitely not suspenseful. It is filled with scenes of torture, rape, killing, and of course, cannibalism. Other movies are far more bloody, emotionally disturb us more with rape (I spit on your grave), have more gory scenes and higher 'kill counts'. I still found movies like Salo and Caligula more disturbing. I didn't find the film especially brilliant, they just seem to show more on screen that might be implied and not shown in other Amazonian movies. I would be very interested in hearing the director and actor commentaries when it comes out though.
