The main question you will be getting is how big is your listening area? For 1K in a decent size room you will be recommened Rythmik, HSU, etc. Or they will recommened 2 subs.

the thing is that it will be used in an apartment room right now i currently have the polk micropro1000 and is just not cutting it anymore. The room I will be using the new sub will be bigger than my current room. I plan on buying this new sub within 5weeks but i just in the meantime needed some good suggestions on which ones to look for.

Which RX's do you have? I have RX's with SVS subs, and they complement each other very well. They seem to help each other very nicely. As you might be able to tell by my avatar, I love the Monitor Audio and SVS combo.
Main Theater Setup:

Hey Parula thanks for the suggestion on the Rhythmik SUBS. I have seen several members on here with those subs and they boast how great it is and I'm actually liking the look of it, so I will research it more and I believe thats what I will be leaning towards.

If you wanna be the first kid on your block to own something, try the Power Sounds XV15. They won't be shipping until the end of this month, so that may not work for you, but from a value standpoint this one might be quite good. The founders certainly have pedigree.

With that budget, I would look at the following companies:

SVS
HSU
Rythmik
Outlaw
Epik
Elemental Designs
Emotiva (current sale)

I have a SVS PB12-NSD and love it. I would do your research and get one that best fits what you are looking for. Will this be more for Movies or Music?

+1 . These look to be a great value. Not to mention you would be one of the first to own one. Other wise all the other subs mentioned would be great.

keep one thing in mind, if your in an apartment now, and plan on moving into another apartment (bigger room not that important) you will still have the same issue, the people living around you won't tolerate the sub playing at too high a volume. you could still get a "big sub" but, you really won't get to take advantage of it. you will be tempted to take advantage of it, but the Po' Po' will remind you that you shouldn't.

just keep that in mind if your not moving into a house or a situation where folks are "farther apart" from you and your sub you may have problems. do of course replace your sub, but be mindful of what you do with it.

Get a SVS PB12 NSD or 2 of them!!! You will not regret it.
Adopted Blu-ray long before its development and launch.

I would go with the PC nsd or PB nsd from SVS or check out Powersound audio. It just opened and is owned by one of the original SVS founders Tom Vodhanel. They have a couple of subs that would fit your price range.

http://www.powersoundaudio.com
Game room:
2 SVS PB12+/2
1 SVS PB12+
3 Power Sound Audio XV-15's

Bedroom: 2 SVS SB13's
Office: 1 SVS SB12

The SVS sealed sub would be an ideal option for a room in an apartment. For 149.00 more you can get 2. It has a tiny footprint, but goes deep to around 23hz. That will shake things off the neighbors shelves.

I agree. I usually assume when someone has a budget of $1000 they have effectively eliminated sub-$500 dollar subs. Right around $400-500 seems to be the price point where overall performance really steps up.

I ran dual BIC America F12 subwoofers in my HT.
Nice subs except they didn't go very deep.
So I recently upgraded to dual SVS PB12-NSD subwoofers.

Toying with the idea of combining the F12's with the PB12's,
for a nice quad set up in my HT.
