Should i sell my Olevia 26" for a different TV? - Blu-ray Forum

Hi, im about to sell my Olevia 26" LT26HVE for $300 and get a Vizio or a 32" tv. Do u think its worth it?

theres a link to my Current TV. please i need some advice. Id assume i would be putting up between $200-350 for a newer 32" tv.

ill be honest and say im not a huge olevia or vizio fan. while they sell well and are a cheap alternative to some of the bigger brands, there is a reason they are cheaper. they are a good set to put in a kids room or something like that, but as a main viewing source i wouldn't be too excited. in head to head comparisons, they often perform poorly and often times fail certain tests.

if possible, suck it up and spend a bit more for a better product

lol well i dont have a huge budget, im only 17, so no 50" 1080p for me.

My advice would be to keep your existing TV for now if you cannot afford a 40" or greater LCD or plasma with 1080p. You are not going to be able to get a better resolution than 720p with the money you are working with.

Save up some money each month in an electronic bank like ING and let it grow. Prices of 1080p TV's will eventually come down and then you will be able to have something that make HDMI worth while.

well i am content with 720p, i already have a 1080p tv in my living room. this one will be mainly for games and some tv. i just wanted a newer tv that was a bit bigger. i bought that tv off craigslist and had no warranty.

Ok then. Stay away from Viewsonic and Prima TVs. I have a Prima that I have to get rid that ended up with a broken tuner within a couple months of buying it and our office has a Viewsonic TV in the hallway with a lot of burn in from using it as a monitor to display all sorts of things.

Toshiba is not a bad brand. I hear Westinghouse is ok too.

You could get the 32" 720p Philips LCD TV at Best Buy for around $800 right now. Since you already have a Philips LCD in your living room, you might as well go with a brand you know, for your room.

well i heard for 1080p u cant tell the diff between that and 720p at a certain distance? what is that distance cause my room is only 10 feet wide but from where my chair is to the tv is about 5/6 feet

deal! but i wanted to know what u folks think, since i dont have too much expereience with HDTVs

You will notice a difference at 5 to 6 feet definitely even on a 40" LCD or plasma if you are watching 1080 content. Some HD Cable/HD Satellite content is 720p instead of 1080i so you will not notice a difference when displaying that sort of content but when you are either playing a 1080p game or watching a Blu-ray, you will definitely see a difference.
