Kingdom of Heaven Blu-ray

Kingdom of Heaven Blu-ray Review

Just a quick thread!!

I watched Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut in Blu-Ray last week. I allready own it in DVD and to be honest I found the movie normal not to say poor... So i said to myself let's give this movie another try on Blu-Ray with the UNCUT version (about 3h20).

MY GOD!! What an amazing movie, perfect story (the ''CUT'' version had some BIG hole), the picture quality is also amazing.

Just want to tell you this so you will maybe give this movie another try in BLU

For the longest time, I ranked it as having the best PQ of all the blu-rays I had seen. I still rank it near the top and like you said, the movie is great also.

I feel like this is the most slept on movie on these forums...

it has the total package in regards to PQ, AQ and just a real good storyline..

As do I in terms of pq. Where it is semi-dark with blue skies and the snow falling is where it is pure eye candy. There isn't a lot of movies that catches my eye as far as picture quality 'wow factor' goes but that one does.

I don't get the high praise for PQ this BD gets. It's an MPEG-2 release for chrissakes! In fact, I thought it's high on picture noise. Especially in the low light shots. If you have any sort of picture enhancements on at all, it's a digital noise mess in those shots. In fact, I though I had a defective copy when I first got it.

This film needs a new AVC or VC-1 remastering. Along with some of the DVD extras in HD.

Completely disagree...just becasue a film is MPEG-2 does not automatically mean inferior picture quality...this film is in the Gold tier of the AVS PQ forum along with other MPEG-2s like Black Hawk Down...I myself have none of the issues you describe so perhaps you have an issue with your display.

You know not what you speak of. This movie looks frickin brilliant no matter how it was encoded. Shooter is also MPEG 2 but it doesn't stop it from looking great. Kingdom of heaven is probably in the top 10 for picture quality in my collection.

I agree the Director's Cut was a lot better.

Is this the movie with Orlando Bloom? I have the dvd, which was okay. I thought the movie itself was under-rated.

I liked the movie. But I didn't think it was worth it at the time to get it on DVD. Maybe with the directors cut on Blu-ray will spark my interest. I'll most likely buy it after Christmas.

This is probably one of the best Director's Cuts ever produced, if only because the theatrical cut was so average.

The theatrical cut is an OK movie, but nothing spectacular, while the Director's cut is probably one of my favorite movies.

The BR version looks and sounds amazing -- I'd love to see one with some good special features and a commentary track with Ridley Scott (he's one of my favorite director's, so I'll listen to his ramblings). An AVC encoded version with the same DTSHDMA track (the DTS core track is probably one of the best sounding non-lossless tracks around) and some extras would be nice... I'd probably double dip for that (on the movies I love, I don't mind double dipping if there's a suitable enough reason).

I rented KoH when it came out on DVD and thought it was missing something. I was disappointed because it looked like another great epic from Ridley Scott.

However, I gave the DC a try on Blu-Ray and was blown away. That extra 45 minutes missing from the theatrical version made a huge difference in the DC.

As someone already said, this title is on Amazon's BOGO. So it's US$14. Today's the last day, I think.

Wow, there is an extra 45 minutes with the DC? I really need to get this now. I always felt that the movie had too many holes.
