USA Bedtime Stories now on Blu-ray

Covert Art

Preorder link

Quote:
Marty Bronson (Jonathan Pryce) who raises his son and daughter on his own has to sell his homey motel to clever Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) who promises to make Marty's son manager, when he's grown up and has proven himself. Nottingham pulls down the motel to raise a pricey hotel. Although grown up, Marty's son Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) works as a janitor and general servant, but unlikely as it seems, he still dreams of becoming the manager. When Nottingham announces a brand-new gigantic hotel project, he makes his future son-in-law, base Kendall (Guy Pierce), manager, shattering Skeeter's dream. At the same time Skeeter's sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) has to leave town for a job interview and asks him to alternate looking after her two children Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit) and Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling) with Wendy's responsible-minded colleague Jill (Keri Russell). He doesn't get along with either Jill or the children, but his easy-goingness loosens them all up and once he starts telling his bedtime stories, the children grow fond of him and begin to bring in their ideas about how the stories should go. When the stories turn out to become true in real life, Skeeter tries to manoeuver the stories into a direction which will make his dream come true, too. source

I saw it in the movies. Wasn't too bad, but not the best either. Might pick it up on Blu-Ray eventually.

The movie is cute enough. And it's surprisingly enjoyable.

Remember this releases Sunday and the DVD releases Tuesday, Let see if Wal-Mart can get this right, this time

Quote:
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is staggering the DVD/Blu-ray Disc launch of a second title, Bedtime Stories. The high-definition version bows on Sunday, April 5, two days before its standard-definition editions street on April 7. Disney will similarly roll out Bolt on Blu-ray March 22 and on standard DVD on March 24.
In the case of Bolt, studio sources earlier indicated that they wanted to give the Blu-ray format a boost with this head-start approach. The thinking is that, by holding back the DVD, consumers who want to see Bolt early will be encouraged to trade up to Blu-ray.
Perhaps also adding a must-have aspect to Bedtimes Stories, Disney has announced that the Blu-ray version will be available only for a limited time. It’s unclear the exact length of its availability at retail.
Disney did not comment on its Bolt or Bedtime Stories strategies.
Bedtime Stories (prebook Feb. 24) will be priced at $29.99 for the single disc, $34.99 for the two-disc special edition and $39.99 for Blu-ray
source VB
They failed BIG with Bolt on this early release

Default Bedtime Stories available at Best Buy Friday April 3rd

Just wanted to let everyone know that because of Wal-mart's street date violation with Bolt a few weeks ago, Disney has agreed to give Best Buy a head start and let them release both the blu-ray and DVD on Friday April 3rd.

As far as I know, just BBY is getting the deal - but i'm sure other retailers will break the date at some point. I work for the company and we got an email from corporate to allow the product to go out as of 4/3 (at least here in SoCal)

I haven't seen the movie myself, i'm just letting anyone who may want it know that it is on sale now. I believe the 1-disc DVD is $16.99, the 2-disc $22.99, and the blu-ray $26.99.

It's not just Best Buy. I'm pretty sure all retailers can start selling it tomorrow.

I'm not an expert on this. But I have talked to many associates that deal with street dates. And I believe it's illegal for a store to release a movie before it's official release date. From what I understand if any store would do that WITHOUT the approval of the copmpany (Universal, Disney, Paramount, Sony, whoever) IF they did I was told my many, even store managers that they would 1-loose their lisenceing right to sell the movie ever again, and 2-they would get a hefty fine. Which no store could or want to deal with. BUT like I said I'm NOT an expert on this. So don't slam me for my 1 cent of input AHve a nice day

In this case it is okay, since Disney gave the go ahead. But, it is illegal to break street date because it doesn't give every retailer a level playing field and the store breaking the street date would have an advantage over the others by being able to sell more copies.
