It's funny that you mention Pirates, especially...since those are some of the best looking Blu Ray releases out there. I have a 32" Panasonic lcd and I have never had those problems.

And from what I understand, 120hz Automotion makes the baby Jesus cry.

You can calibrate a TV yourself. Try DVE or the Ratatouille Blu-Ray.

I understand what you are saying, but even on a TV with a slower response time some of these things aren't even noticeable when properly calibrated.

in the ps3 settings..should it be on pan & scan or letterbox?

are you watching bluray or standard dvd's?

Definitely sounds like a calibration problem and cartoons/animation are not a good way of judging PQ unless you've calibrated your LCD to a regular movie first.

im watching blu ray dvd's and i think i solved it by changing a setting in the ps3
