Is there a definitive list of German films on Blu? I have been on Bluray-Disc.de and all I go through when looking at German films are documentaries or those fireplace things

Hmm...
How long do we have to wait for Werner Herzog's feature films from 1967-2005???

Also I hope they will release Wim Wenders' "Bis ans Ende der Welt" (Until the End of the World - Director's Cut) and "Don't Come Knocking" soon!

Can anyone who frequents this thread give me some recommendations of German language films pertaining organized crime? On the lines of Running Scared (2006) and The Departed. I keep trying to look for films around that genre, but I keep coming across straight action films.

Default Napola (Before the Fall)

Does anyone know if an English friendly version (with English subtitles) of Dennis Gansel's Napola (aka Before The Fall) is going to be released on Blu-ray? There is a very good DVD but I was hoping to go one better.

Thanks. Hopefully, it will be released on BD soon; meanwhile, I'll make do with the DVD.

Having seen the excelent Die Brucke (The Bridge) directed by Bernhard Wicki, I am interested in a couple of his other films - The Miracle Of Father Melachia and Spider's Web. But neither seems to be available on DVD, let alone an English friendly Blu-ray.

Aside from the recent Mattihas Schwieghöfer and Til Schweiger films, what other German films are available on Blu-ray now?

I presume there is quite a few but I have lost track

Check out these:

Who Am I
Stereo
Fack ju Göhte
Nicht mein Tag
Zeit der Kannibalen

I'm not sure if any of them have English audio or Subtitles, but I really enjoyed them all.
Life is just a form of animated death.

Unless the movie was shoot in English (for example Vijay und Ich) you can forget about English audio; the most you get is English subs. I actually been compiling a list of all the English friendly German movies that have been released on BD.Here it is.

Some of my favs are Das Leben der Anderen and Good Bye Lenin. Westen is also a good thought-provoking film. And Phoenix has gotten a really good buzz, I can't wait to see it. Of the above mentioned, Fack ju Göhte is very funny, I actually rewatched it the other day on BD and looks and sounds really good and has English subtitles for the movie.

Btw, I've seen Nicht mein Tag in store and comes with a nice slip.

You are missing quite many. I can think of several titles right now not in your list:
  • "Der Schuh des Manitu" (1st version with English audio)
  • "Staplerfahrer Klaus" (German cult short film)
  • "Das Boot" (TV Series)
  • "Bang Boom Bang"
  • "Was nicht passt wird passend gemacht"
  • "Goldene Zeiten"
