Those earlier eD units seem to have failures with the amps, which got fixed in their later units. Unfortunately for you, they have gone out of business so whatever you decide will cost you some amount of coin. The question is how much do you put into current sub to fix it versus just buying new. I only recommended that unit since it was close the price you were about to pay for a new plate amp. I seem to recall Tom recommending that unit as a cheap entry sub to others, if you wish to read through several threads I am sure you will find it or something else that Tom recommended, if I got it wrong. If Tom recommends it, I would trust him, he has been in this business a while and knows his stuff. I'm sure Tom would love to sell you one of his PSA subs but they start much higher than $200, more like $700 unless you can buy something on clearance, B-stock or used elsewhere.

If you are willing to buy new, then figure out your budget and I'm sure somebody can help you find a unit. $200 will get you entry level sub. For SVS Sound, need at least $500. PSA is $700. There are others out there too. All depends on what you are willing to spend, if you want sealed versus ported, the finish, speakers to match up with, size of room (ceiling height, width, length), if room is open to rest of house, just movies or music too, etc. Take a couple of hours and read through the various threads about subwoofers in the audio section, that should help you figure out what you want. Then post back and ask away.

Hmm...Ok, unless he's in Cincinnati I don't know that it would be worth it. Shipping can't be cheap!

For a single amp wrapped in a good bit of bubbles figure 15-20 bucks each way max. Dave does really good work too. Good prices, quick turn-around. Once he is done with it your amp will probably last 5-10 years.

Also, haven't had time to read all the posts here---but please be 100% sure the driver is okay. If the driver has a fault, you might pop your new amp again within minutes.

I have 2 A2-300 cabinets with refurbed amps and JL Audio 12W3V3-4 subs in them, one of the amps is a LT.300 and it sounds so good. The LT.200 does good too, but that extra power is noticeable. Dave could also upgrade the amp to give you a bit more power if you wanted, not sure how much extra that would cost. But as Tom said, shipping wouldn't be terribly expensive, under $20 shipped via UPS plus whatever it costs to repair it. It would definitely be cheaper than buying a new amp and trying to make it fit and look nice.

Back again. I'm interested in finding Dave to discuss a repair. However, I couldn't find anything under daveds50. Any chance it's a different user name? Hopefully he hasn't left the forum.

Doesn't that post give his e-mail address?

Did you try that?

So my refurbished LT.200 quit working right, which is very dissapointing since It hasn't seen that much use. I just mailed it off to Daveds50 to get repaired and upgraded to a LT.300 so it can match my other sub perfectly. I hate that it failed on me so soon, but after he fixes it, it should be as good as new, if not better. I contacted Dave via Facebook messenger and received a quick reply, he was very pleasant to work with.
