USA Why do I see new previews on old movies..??

I just threw in the original Fast and Furious , and it showed new previews for fast five and a few other 2011 movies... I have my PS3 connected wireless, but I dont think I messed with any settings..

So why is the F&F from 2001 or so, showing previews to Fast five??

Universal blu-rays (including F&F) stream them from the internet, at least the recent ones do. If you have a fast internet, you'll hardly notice. Sometimes it says something like "Loading a fresh preview from the internet" too. I'm not sure what it does if you're disconnected, perhaps there are older previews on the disc (and by the way, the first F&F movie was 2001 but the blu-ray was released in 2009)

I actually rather like it, I absolutely loathe skipping old previews on discs that don't mean squat anymore. I like the feature. Wish others would utilize it.

It's all part of BD-Live.

BD-Live: The biggest difference between Bonus View and BD-Live is that BD-Live requires the Blu-ray Disc player to have an Internet connection to access Internet-based content. BD-Live features have included Internet chats, scheduled chats with the director, Internet games, downloadable featurettes, downloadable quizzes, and downloadable movie trailers.

Old previews is the reason I hate previews on discs I buy.

I wouldn't usually reply to an old thread, but I've noticed that after a while the "current" trailers / previews are no longer current. My Blu-Ray of Despicable Me "1" (2010) loads and shows trailers for Minions (2015) and other 2015 kids / family films / movies. It's almost like they didn't expect anyone to be using the disc in 2016/2017/2018 etc. lol...
