When 1080p just doesn't cut it

This thing isn't going to compete with Blu-ray. I mean, look at its price tag. If anything it'll just be an incredibly niche product for the extremely wealthy, and it will co-exist just fine with everything else on the market. There will most definitely not be another format war.

Comparing this thing to Blu-ray is like comparing a Ferrari Enzo to, like, an Infiniti G37. Yeah, the Enzo is better, but it's not going to be cutting into Nissan's marketshare anytime soon/ever.

DVD would be the old, used, busted up Civic that's also on the lot. It sucks, but a bunch of people still buy it because it's "good enough" to take them from point A to point B.

HD DVD would be the DeLorean.
