I attempted to email the address on the GR site a few minutes ago regarding Scum and apparently their inbox is full and can no longer receive messages.

What a shame. I've been re-watching all of my 3 disc blus recently and it really made me nostalgic for when the company was releasing all those great titles.

Yeah, Grindhouse was awesome. Only two discs I don't have from them are "Cannibal Ferox", which I'm not the biggest fan of, and "Cat in the Brain", which is one my lease favorite Fulcis. I consider their releases of "The Big Gundown", "The Swimmer" and "Pieces" among the best discs released in the BD era.
Top 10 Most Wanted on Blu-Ray: 1) After Hours 2) Bringing Out the Dead 3) Bob Roberts 4) O Lucky Man 5) California Split 6) The Music of Chance 7) The Limey 8) Brewster McCloud 9) The Hitcher (1986) 10) Straight Time

I agree 100%. The discs you mentioned are also the only ones I don't have.

I miss Grindhouse as much as anyone, but I was willing to cut Bob Murawski some slack once I heard what he’s been doing in the interim:

First, Duke Mitchell and now Orson Welles!
Check out my blog for more musings on disreputable films.

I watched The Swimmer Blu a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it so much that I immediately read the John Cheever short story on which it's based. I'd never read that before and was surprised by how much of the movie is in the short story. I assumed that the movie greatly expanded on the story, which is only about 12 pages long, but it really didn't.

There's a great interview with Bob on Killer POV podcast from a few years ago. He basically says that with Sage gone he's slowed down on Grindhouse Releasing, it was mostly Sage's baby and Bob just helped with it. He's an editor by trade and wasn't really the one doing all the aquisitions. I know he had a few more in the pipeline but he' wasn't sure if he was going to continue after that. So we'll see.

The interview with Bob starts at 38:00. This was one of my favorites from Killer POV everyone who hasn't listened should give it a go.

Well, there is the possibility of a glimmer of hope as far as Grindhouse releasing anything. Bob Murawski is on track to finish putting together Orson Welles' The Other Side of the Wind soon. Maybe with one less item on his plate, Scum of the Earth might squeak out!

ON FB today it was brought up that Vinegar Syndrome originally did the scan from the internegative for Scum, and that it was "sadly just as faded as the prints".
