It most certainly is. It just comes right out of left field with a company like Carlotta in 2016, especially on a premium, 50 Euro collectors set. And a CBS license does not necessarily mean locked subs since Explosive Media never had to force subs on any of their German-market releases. I just hope that the upcoming, Sony-licensed Richard Fleischer releases will be unaffected from forced subs.

The price sadly doesnt affect what the rightholders ask to the label to do. I'm quite sure Carlotta would have preferred doing without forced subs, at least to be accessible for UK people for instance.
As for the Fleischer, at least The new centurions and See no evil have optional subs. I havent checked Rillington Place yet.

Tenia, thanks for confirming that the 2 Fleischers are equipped with optional subs. I´ll preorder right away.

Carlotta have announced a special Ultra Collector's edition of Twin Peaks - Season 1 & 2.

Ce coffret ne manquera pas d'atouts pour ceux et celles qui découvriront la série aujourd'hui, comme un livre inédit en France de 250 pages consacré à la série et un visuel nouveau.

Question question: are French subs removable on the Italian track of Sacco e Vanzetti?

Carlotta's UCE #7 will be a 4-movie set dedicated to Hitchcock with :
Rebecca
Notorious
Spellbound
The Paradine Case

No additional details so far, except that it will have a book (as usual with their UCE) and will be dual-format.

Three great Italian films for October: Il mattatore, Swept Away and Il deserto rosso

It's very likely (if not certain) this release of Red Desert will feature the new 4k resto which will be screend at Venice!!
Likewise, Il mattatore just had a 2k resto and was re-released in the theatres in June in France, and the Wertmuller should feature the new Lorber resto as well. Amazing.

Carlotta have sent me an email confirming that the subtitles are removable on Suddenly, Last Summer.
Blu-ray wish list: The Damned, Death in Venice and Radio On.

Has anybody had a chance to view this 2K Remastered version of Picnic? Curious as to how it compares to the OOP Twilight Time release, if it has any forced subs, and if the new extras are English friendly. Thanks!

I found a couple reviews. In a nutshell, this appears to be another wonderful job done by Carlotta.

Has anyone seen the Carlotta release of Todd Haynes's Velvet Goldmine and compared it to the US Blu? I saw a gorgeous 35mm print tonight, and during some reading about the film afterward discovered there's a slightly longer Euro/UK cut of the film, which is purportedly available on the Carlotta release. That leads me to believe it may be a different transfer and—given that the US Blu doesn't come close to capturing the depth and detail of the 35mm print I saw—I hope a better one.
