The Italian Blu-ray has been added, and it will be out on 10 September 2015, but there is no press release I can find for specifications. Meanwhile, Fox has revamped their Italian web site to a global (i.e. completely useless) one which doesn't provide any specific information on their Italian video releases anymore, so we shall have to wait to know if English subtitles will be provided.

Hey guys,

I received my copy today. I'm happy to confirm that this release does include English subtitles for the episodes, and this is great news, as, unlike Gomorrah: The Series, it looks like this will not be released elsewhere on Blu-ray.

Surprisingly, this is another of the growing number of TV series that are opting not to use the 1.78:1 ratio. Indeed, 1992 appears to have been shot in 2.39:1, and from watching the first episode, the image quality is very good, with only some very minor video noise, which is possibly inherited.

The real draw here, though, is Fox's thunderous DTS-HD MA 5.1 track. Right from the stunning opening theme, the sound is crisp, clear and enveloping, in a way that a 2.0 track never could be. In the opening episode, look out for a large sample of R.E.M's "Everybody Hurts", which is used to great effect, and which is properly pitched, proving that this is a native 50Hz production.

The release also appears to be Region B LOCKED, according to AnyDVD. I will confirm shortly with my system.

However, if you are interested in the show, and could play Region B and 50Hz content. clearly, Fox's Italian Blu-ray release is the way to go.

Unless it's some kind of exclusive, 1993 has yet to be released on video in Italy. I see the German Blu-ray and DVD, as well as the soundtrack CD, but no Italian Blu-ray or DVD.
