France Upcoming Henri-Georges Clouzot on BD

According to Amazon, three Clouzot classics are going to be released between Sept and Oct 2017.
TF1 will release Le Salaire de la peur, while Studio Canal will do Quai des Orfèvres and Le corbeau.
Hopefully, they will feature Eng subs...

It will be more than this.
The following titles will be released on individual BD releases (the boxset will be DVD-only, sadly) :

TF1 :
Les diaboliques
Le Salaire de la peur

Gaumont :
Le mystère Picasso

Studio Canal :
La prisonnière
Le corbeau
Quai des orfèvres

The documentary L'enfer has been (finally !) released on BD in France by Lobster, it seems to be basically a port of the US release.

Great news!

Hopefully La prisonnière will come with the English subs, so that I can dump the DVD... One of my favorite films by Clouzot.

I'm actually following the related news quite closely, because we (in France) expected this project to simply end up as the Almodovar set (full boxset on BD, and done), but it seem instead to slowly turn into a nightmare.

I'm thus very curious to see how all this will end.

Something more and more certain : La vérité is likely not to be included in the DVD-set and thus not be part of the whole restoration project.

Default English subtitles for "Le Corbeau" & Quai des Orfèvres"

"Le Corbeau" & "Quai des Orfèvres" both contain English subtitles for both the features and the supplements. As one has to choose between UK and France before the main menu, it looks like there will be a UK release somewhere down the line.

Serious? I didn't expect that, I'm so happy! Will order both asap. Thanks for the report.

Any news about Les Diaboliques (a new master, hopefully) and La prisonnière? The latter too is Studio Canal, so I guess it does include English subs...

Me neither! :-) Can´t report on the other 2, sorry.

By the way: "Le Corbeau" and "Quai des Orfèvres" come in VERY thin cardboard boxes.

From what I understood, the 3 Studio Canal Clouzot comes in slim digipacks.
I've seen some screencaps of all 3, they look VERY nice, especially La prisonnière.

Le salaire de la peur & Les diaboliques come in DVD-sized big digibooks, but aren't English-friendly. DVD Classik just reviewed both.
Le salaire de la peur is from the restoration the BFI release is using (but it seems the UK release is better encoded, the French release seems to have slight chroma issues).
Les diaboliques is from a new 4K restoration which seems vastly superior to the Criterion US release (and, logically, even more superior to the Arrow release).

So, I guessed right, a new resto. Looks amazing. Last time I gave the Arrow BD a spin, I couldn't watch it. Not surprisingly, the old master looks like a DVD in comparison, now.

Only French subs, though: this is very unfortunate, as useless Criterion UK branch has just acquired the rights for the British market, so an Eng-friendly release is out of the question.

I won't be able to post a link for these screencaps because the website isn't really one one could recommend here...
Anyway, I've ordered all 3 and should receive it in the next days. I'll try and post some caps here once I have them.

Those blu-ray are edited by StudioCanal, so don't expect a region free discs, they will be region b locked for sure.

The Third Man was StudioCanal and region free, both the UK version and the French disc. So you actually can't proclaim "for sure" just because it's from a certain label.

Right now these are exclusive to the Amazon Prime members only (except for The Mystery of Picasso), yet the price is €19.99 each. What gives? They are not cheap, anyway. Hopefully they will be available to non-members soon!
