Thought I'd start a thread for this as it just came out last week- posted loads of pics in the thread for (France) Pathe Classic Titles (page 14)

Does it come with English subtitles. I think it does. Either way (as a french speaker) I've ordered it. I'm very excited. I was hoping for this one for a long time and I can't believe it's here.

I've just now seen. It's region A, B, and C. With English subtitles. Fantastic. Now I can share this film in this wonderful restoration with others who've not yet seen it!

Beautifull release. I've still yet to watch my US release, which was a blind-buy.

Yes, it comes with English subtitles- which can be turned on/off as you like.

I have the US blu ray combo that looked pretty good already. Is it worth upgrading to this one?

I love the films and did already have the US set. I received my copy of the new set from Amazon.fr a few days ago.

I haven't taken a look yet but I want the best discs available of these masterpieces.

Definitely. It's a night and day difference.

Awesome. Gave in yesterday and ordered my copy already - along with the LP of the score for both films

Just received the movies. The front cover is damaged with a little "crack crease" sort of line on the front.

Unfortunately, I opened the plastic wrap without noticing it. I'm not sure if this warrants a return. Can it still be returned?

It's too bad, because it's such a lovely cover. It's really noticeable since it's white.

I'm not sure about Amazon France but the rare few times I got a damaged disc from Amazon US they shipped out a replacement one for free without requiring me to return the first one.

Thank you. Ordered this morning, I love these films! If only we'd get a similar release for My Father's Glory & My Mother's Castle, I would be a very happy fan!
My Blu ray wish list: Breakdown; Mediterraneo; Blood In Blood Out; Idiocracy; Open Range; Death to Smoochy; Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit; Carbon Copy; Hero (Dustin Hoffman); The Villain (Kirk Douglas); My Favorite Year

Comparisons:

The dark scenes look considerably altered.
Don't know what is the original look of the film.

It's a shame it's been revisionist tealed like so many modern "remasters." Florette looks mostly great. Manon needs the blues re-colored to proper blue (and whites brought back to white instead of having a blue tint. Not hard to do with DaVinci or other color-grading programs, but a shame studios keep altering the look of films to make them appear "modern."

Can anyone confirm the region? I own the Shout! set, which was better quality than most the stuff they put out.. However just compared to this new release, its a disgrace.

Was going to order this and replace my Shout copy but I'm going to pass after looking at those screen caps. Odd colors and the image also appears zoomed in, especially on the right hand side of the frame. Shout's compression is actually higher than these discs I believe too.
