Default Laser BD3000 Codes?

My old Sherwood multi-regional player seems to be on it's last legs. (Doesn't play discs at all at times other times it's just the video and no audio and doesn't let me switch to 1080p from HDMI Auto all the time unless I unplug it and plug it back in a couple of times). So long story short, I saw a few Laser BD3000s on Trademe and wondered what the codes are to switch between blu-ray regions are, before I go and buy one.

From their website:

Quote:
1. From the main menu (or press the HOME button on remote) go to the SETTING option.
2. In the General Setting tab navigate down to the Security option and press OK on the remote.
3. Navigate down to the BD Region Code option and press OK on the remote.
4. Select the desired Blu-Ray region and press OK on the remote.
5. You should now be able to play any disc from the selected region.

NOTE: Please note that if you are still having problems playing a disc after trying the above steps try and change the country code to a corresponding country for that particular region e.g. United States for Region A discs.

I think mine is a BD2000, but I don't believe there are any codes, instructions to change region on my unit are the same as provided by Anamnesis above.

With the BD3000 they made it so you can go to the set up menu and just change it there. No code required.

Is the Laser better quality than the Thomson? Our Thomson just died it was 3 yrs old but had very little use as it's in the holiday house. I need to replace it but would prefer to stay region free so that I don't have to worry which discs I take with me.

It's a great little player. Plays everything I throw at it, including video files via USB. I've had issues with bigger name players like Sony getting all files to play, but no issues at all with this unit. Check out the reviews on JB Hi Fi for it. Overwhelmingly positive reviews.

The Laser BD3000 player is $69.30 at big w, down from roughly $100. I've been using mine for a year on a near daily basis and I've had no issues at all, personally.

I had a Thomson portable DVD player, and it died within months. I won't be buying anything from them again.

Hmm, these are available via Trademe from Dick Smith for $89 + $8 shipping to NZ. Might just have to invest.

All Laser players have the same procedure:
1. Press Setup on remote
2. Press the numbers 8520. This will open the 'Factory Setting' Page.
3. BD code is set to 2 for Region B.
4.For Region A discs change this code to 1.
