Satantango is such great news. 2019 though?! Yikes. It's going to be a long wait. Super-exciting though!

A question for Arbelos: do you have any plans to license your restoration to the region B rights holders (is it still Artificial Eye in the UK)? I realise it's probably a bit early for that sort of talk, but it'd be great to see the film in all its restored glory, in the UK, in cinemas and on blu-ray, of course.

Holy —- !! Congratulations and thank you! A few years ago I travelled to see a 35mm screening of Satantango and it is probably the cinematic highlight of my life. Truly extraordinary. I’ve been hoping for this kind of news ever since!

"Hey buddy, wanna come on over and watch a 7 hour black and white movie that features long scenes of people walking muddy dirt roads? Hello? Hello??"

I liked it when I saw it a few years ago, but I can't picture myself buying it. Big kudos to Arbelos for taking it on, though!

Two ideal extras* would be his short films Journey on the Plain, which revisits the locations of Satantango and was made the following year, and The Last Boat - another Krasznahorkai adaptation. Journey on the Plain was shot on digital video (in '95!), but The Last Boat was 35mm...what's another 31 mins to restore on top of 400-odd

* Assuming no audio commentary?
