Review of the Subkultur limited edition
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Silent...108778/#Review

5/5 on both picture and sound is worthy of a Criterion release!

The english audio kicks a$$, too bad the german dub quality is not that good.
The surround of the original track is much better and it's much stronger and punchier.

The transfer is amazing, almost looks like a brand new movie or a 4k restored movie, amazing colors and details.

Glad they put Dolph's name on it.

Wouldn't have guessed who it was otherwise.

It looks like Nathan Fillion with a bee sting allergy.

Looks like an early 90's Eric Roberts. With an early 90's Dolph body.

Confirmation for Nameless Media putting the "bust edition" out.

The will be the 4th release of the movie in German-speaking territories despite the previous releases not being sold out...

I'm saddened to hear that SILENT TRIGGER writer Sergio "Alan D." Altieri passed away on June 16th (heart attack).
https://www.wired.it/attualita/media...-alan-altieri/

He had given me a fantastic phone interview in 2011 and we kept in touch over the years. He loved Russell Mulcahy and Dolph Lundgren's work ethics, was very proud of SILENT TRIGGER, and gave me a raving review of the "making of" I had written for the Subkultur Blu-ray edition. Altieri's exclusive interview featured on the disc (which I helped arranging) is now even more valuable.

Altieri was also a very popular novelist in Italy. Our last exchanged were in March 2017.

R.I.P.

Quote:
The subtext of "Silent Trigger" is in fact the futility of murder. Consider that, in the original script, some dialogues were consistently longer, clarifying this view better. The fact then that we are in a no-name world and/or places is meant to add to the surreal/metaphysical quality of the whole proposal.

I know, all that sounds way to pompous on my part, but I also supposed it is what makes this film somewhat interesting compared to other actioners. In any event, filling up what your friend might see as a plot contradiction, we are led to believe that there's some kind of "gang war" within the outfil itself. In an earlier version of the script, the target in the car in the final bridge sniping is the same woman we see at the very beginning. So, yes... it is an endless loop.

- Sergio Altieri (email excerpt)

To my surprise and accident, I met up with my friend Dolph Lundgen today. He is a wonderful soul and has a big film coming out soon. Luv him!

So, is that the 'good' master or the 'poor' master?

This has been released in Germany so many times, I forget.

It's simple: the very best master that really matters is the Subkultur Entertainment one.

So why keep releasing the inferior master?

Which idiots are buying them?

Surely there's no money in it?

I'm not so sure, if there were no money in they wouldn't do it.
Probably a store release for the shelves, and I'd say we're the minority and most customers aren't this informed.

I think the Subkultur master was done by themselves (scan / restoration) and they want to see some money for it if you want to use, righfully so.

So there's probably more profit with the older master. Anybody who cares about quality and the movie has the Subkultur already anyway.
