The 35th Anniversary Directors Cut on Disc 1 looks ok. Some Filtering and compression issues but watchable.
But the Directors Version or X-Tro 2.0 on the Bonus Blu Ray is a mess. Heavy Filtering, horrible new Special Effects.....

Comparison between both Versions:

Wow... what is up with the contrast on the DC 2.0 cut? At least we have the theatrical unmolested (for the most part). As long as it looks like that preview clip that Krekel released a few months ago, I'll be happy.

Received mine in the US today, watching the director's cut now. Looks great to me and worth the wait. Not in a hurry to watch the bonus version based on the screen grabs and comments but will give it a look one of these days.

Wow. That is quite a difference.
Rightly or wrongly, surely this filtering must be a deliberate artistic choice for the "updated" version (as with French Connection or Thief).

Pretty sure that the black squares which appear/disappear on screen over the staircase bannister in one shot of the 2.0 version weren't deliberate though! I made it through to the end of this version as some form of perverse self torture just to see how awful it could look. Can't recall a worse Blu Ray experience off the top of my head. Thankfully the main disc version looks good, which is the main thing.

Plays fine on both of my players (Region A and B). Can't vouch for C.

Just watched it. Video detail is pretty good. Not quite as DNRed as Krekel's usual stuff, but it's still there. It seems to have a slight blue tint or shift in color timing at times (like when Tony's dad pilfers the dead guy's clothes), and the end finale has some contrast issues, especially the anti-climax (you can see the screen cap of the panther in the "contrast boosted out of existence" hallway, which, funnily enough, looks better on the DC 2.0 and the theatrical version).

Overall a decent product, but hopefully the Second Sight UK XTRO will correct the color timing and contrast issues.

I'm glad I picked this up, for the oddity that is the Director's Cut.

If the UK Disc improves on the transfer of the theatrical cut, I'll pick that version up and simply add the disc to the German set to create the ultimate Xtro set.

Anybody pick up the '84 Entertainment 3-Disc mediabook? I've been itching to pick up a copy to hold me off until the Second Sight edition comes out.
