No issues mate, we just had to press more stock (people, they love the Death Wish Whale!).

Is Death Wish II/Death Wish 3 going to be getting a New Zealand release? Still no sign of it at my local JB...

Not sure - would've thought it was going to go to NZ same date as Aus (no restrictions on it AKAIK) - I'd suggest shooting an email through to customerservice@umbrellaent.com.au and asking the status.

Cheers

They had it on their website, and I ordered it one time.... Needless to say it was cancelled when JB couldn't get any stock. It was listed as an 'On Order' rather than In Stock or Pre-Order.

Maybe that was because of the on-the-quiet replacement of the soundtracks with lossless versions? Guess I'll hit up that email and see what's going on.

Jesse @ Diabolik didn't elaborate. He used the word 'repressed' but maybe he just meant this run was small and Umbrella ordered up more copies. I haven't seen anyone say there's something wrong with the disc.

Managed to secure myself a copy of Umbrella's Heathers Blu-ray release.
Don't recall loving it that much and a little disheartened that it doesn't have subtitles but I have an urge to rewatch it so I'm glad to have found one. Arrived in great condition too

Received my copies of Orca and Silver Bullet yesterday. Orca is the best-looking of the two but that's not saying much. Silver Bullet has a weird grill effect (not sure what else to call it), resembling an anomaly left over from the Laserdisc era. Not terrible, just harsh and video-y. I don't have many Umbrella titles in my collection and it's staying that way if this is the norm. Couldn't they at least spring for a newer master?

These showed up in the mail today. I popped each disc in for a minute or so, and they all play well on my Sony.

I'm overjoyed. Silver Bullet, in particular, has long been on my wishlist.

Itís a great slice of fried 80ís gold thatís for sure! I donít know how Iíd never heard of it before! Gary Busey is in fine form as the alcoholic uncle leading the youngsters astray!

When his pregnant mate meets a horrific accidental death at the hands of fishermen off the coast of Newfoundland, a killer whale seeks vengeance by wreaking havoc in the waters around the harbor. Captain Nolan, played by Richard Harris (Unforgiven), is remorseful about his actions, and relates to the whale, since his own wife and unborn child were killed by a drunk driver years ago, but he is initially reluctant to face the whale at sea until his friends and fellow fishermen are targeted as a way of luring him into battle. With the help of a cetologist, played by Charlotte Rampling (Never Let Me Go), and a Native American lore expert, played by Will Sampson (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Nolan embarks on the ultimate deadly adventure.

The 1977 film, Orca, which was directed by Michael Anderson (Logan's Run), has always drawn repeated comparisons to Steven Spielberg's Jaws for surface level reasons. In truth, however, it comes across more as a remake of Death Wish, with a killer whale taking the place of Charles Bronson's character. I first saw this movie during childhood, and I was intrigued by the fact that none of the characters are villains, and that they all have their underlying reasons for taking various actions.

The notion of a killer whale exacting calculated revenge against humans is implausible, to say the least, but the filmmakers pull us through the story with such enthusiasm that one cannot help but step aboard and let this story take us where it may. Harris is quite convincing as his captain character realizes the severity of the situation. When a killer whale has marked you for death, there's nothing that you can possibly do.

Despite its short running time, Orca drags somewhat during the final half hour, when Nolan gets down to business and decides to take to sea for the showdown. For the most part, though, it's a solidly engaging when-animals-attack film mixed with 1970s ecological themes.

Be on the lookout for Bo Derek (Bolero, Tommy Boy) as a fishing boat crew member. Also take notice of the always-amazing Keenan Wynn (Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb) as an elderly fisherman. Finally, Robert Carradine (Revenge of the Nerds) appears as a research assistant.

The Umbrella Entertainment Blu-ray shines with an above-average picture quality. The movie would have benefited from more disc space, but what we've got is nicely filmic. The audio quality is an impressive spot-on match.

The historian commentary track, which I'm listening to now, is pretty entertaining.

I've got a Sony BDPS6500 player.

Silver Bullet and Orca both work wonderfully well on my player.

The Fair Game disc is a little more wonky, though. I watched the movie, the audio commentary, and the actress interview with no trouble, but the screen simply goes black when I try to access the rest of the special features. This is too bad, because I'd like to check out the director's short films. I'm just glad that I can play the main feature and the commentary, though, so the disc is still worth having for me.

Thanks for the reply. It appears the issues with Umbrella discs reported previously (disc getting locked up in player when Stop is pressed) don't affect older modded players. I have the BDP-S1500 as does another user who posted the same problems. Apparently there won't be a fix for the issue as Sony haven't got back to Umbrella...so buyer beware.

That's probably because the extras are 50hz, which is incompatible with most US displays.
