Finally got my own copy of it, after HMV kept giving me the run around! I gave up with them, and got it from Play.com instead, only to find out just today, that Amazon had it for a lower price! FML!

Can't wait to watch it tonight! It's been years since I last saw it!

Does anyone want that stupid "Movieextras Slipcase" that comes with it? I don't like that slipcase one bit! No idea why Sony would even make those slipcases! They look awful!

I'm looking at buying the version that was released this year. Does anyone know the quality of the transfer? I couldn't find any reviews. Thanks!

UK release was out on January, 4 months after the US Anniversary Edition. From it's review;

Quote:
Sony has re-released 'Jumanji' to Blu-ray in celebration of its 20th anniversary. This edition contains several new bonus features in addition to all of the content from the older release. Video and audio transfers appear identical to the older issue.

From the back cover of the 4K disc;

First look at Welcome to the Jungle
Never-before-seen Deleted Scenes and Gag Reel with Robin Williams

Plus original bonus features, without the Goosebumps segments I'm guessing.

So anyone who has the HMV steelbook released on the 15th Jan 2018, is it a re-pressing of the old disc or the new transfer?

Not sure about the transfer but the extras are different, so that's a good sign.

I can't say for certain since I don't own this specific release, but I do have the 4k version, and the regular Blu-ray included has all of the new extras and a better transfer than the 2011 disc. Since this steelbook has the new special features, the logical assumption would be that this is the new transfer.

Well you can see in my post above from 2016 that the '15 20th anniversary disc included new extras but the old transfer.
And I wouldn't take for granted what is included in the 4K set also being in the HMV release.

So ideally, someone with the HMV steelbook can comment.

I have the steelbook but no other editions, so its probably a daft question but how do I tell if it's a new transfer??

Comparing the screenshots from this review to my SteelBook disc in hand, it certainly looks like a new transfer to me, but I can't 100% confirm as I don't have the equipment to run the disc specs.

Hard to say, as they muddied the water with the anniversary release which had old transfer but new extras.

It's a nice steelbook, so maybe worth crossing my fingers for the new transfer and getting it. But if it's the old transfer, then it would be a bit of a wasted double dip for a disc I only paid £6 for in 2011.

I decided to just go for it, I was in the city today and grabbed a steelbook from HMV. Happy to confirm that it is the new transfer. I took some screenshots of the old disc comparing to the blu-ray.com screens. I then took some screen of the new disc, they match the '17/'18 transfer. It was pretty clear before I even compared.

I should be able to post some comparisons later.

Other than the new Steelbook version, is there another release with the new remaster? Iím not really a fan of Steelbooks, but would quite like to get this.

Only the steelbook in the UK, for now at least. Although I think the UHD release includes the new 1080 blu-ray as 2nd disc.

As promised earlier, here's a quick comparison with the old 2011 blu-ray;
